But the Lord said to Ananias,“ Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.

But when He who had set me apart even from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace was pleasedto reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult with flesh and blood,

of which I was made a minister, according to the gift of God’s grace which was given to me according to the working of His power.To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ,

At my first defense no one supported me, but all deserted me; may it not be counted against them.But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that through me the proclamation might be fully accomplished, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was rescued out of the lion’s mouth.

through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles in behalf of His name,

“ Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Therefore insofar as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I magnify my ministry

For this I was appointed as a preacher and an apostle( I am telling the truth, I am not lying), as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

Paul, an apostle( not sent from men nor through human agency, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised Him from the dead),

rescuing you from the Jewish people and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending you,to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.’“ For that reason, King Agrippa, I did not prove disobedient to the heavenly vision,but continually proclaimed to those in Damascus first, and in Jerusalem, and then all the region of Judea, and even to the Gentiles, that they are to repent and turn to God, performing deeds consistent with repentance.

While they were serving the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said,“ Set Barnabas and Saul apart for Me for the work to which I have called them.”

These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them because He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful.”

And He said to me,‘ Go! For I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’ ”

and you will even be brought before governors and kings on My account, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.

But I have written very boldly to you on some points so as to remind you again, because of the grace that was given to me from God,to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, ministering as a priest the gospel of God, so that my offering of the Gentiles may become acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.Therefore in Christ Jesus I have found reason for boasting in things pertaining to God.For I will not presume to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me, resulting in the obedience of the Gentiles by word and deed,in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit; so that from Jerusalem and all around as far as Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.And in this way I aspired to preach the gospel, not where Christ was already known by name, so that I would not build on another person’s foundation;but just as it is written:“ They who have not been told about Him will see, And they who have not heard will understand.”

Or does the potter not have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one object for honorable use, and another for common use?What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with great patience objects of wrath prepared for destruction?And He did so to make known the riches of His glory upon objects of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory,namely us, whom He also called, not only from among Jews, but also from among Gentiles,

But on the contrary, seeing that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been to the circumcised( for He who was at work for Peter in his apostleship to the circumcised was at work for me also to the Gentiles),and recognizing the grace that had been given to me, James and Cephas and John, who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, so that we might go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised.

No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him.

You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me.

Now then go, and I Myself will be with your mouth, and instruct you in what you are to say.”But he said,“ Please, Lord, now send the message by whomever You will.”Then the anger of the Lord burned against Moses, and He said,“ Is there not your brother Aaron the Levite? I know that he speaks fluently. And moreover, behold, he is coming out to meet you; when he sees you, he will be overjoyed.

I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that often I have planned to come to you( and have been prevented so far) so that I may obtain some fruit among you also just as among the rest of the Gentiles.I am under obligation both to Greeks and to the uncultured, both to the wise and to the foolish.So, for my part, I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.

And Agrippa said to Festus,“ This man could have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.”

Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver implements, but also implements of wood and of earthenware, and some are for honor while others are for dishonor.Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be an implement for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.

But the Lord said to me,“ Do not say,‘ I am a youth,’ Because everywhere I send you, you shall go, And all that I command you, you shall speak.

Then Agrippa said to Festus,“ I also would like to hear the man myself.”“ Tomorrow,” he* said,“ you shall hear him.”So, on the next day when Agrippa and Bernice came amid great pomp and entered the auditorium, accompanied by the commanders and the prominent men of the city, at the command of Festus, Paul was brought before them.And Festus* said,“ King Agrippa, and all you gentlemen present with us, you see this man about whom all the people of the Jews appealed to me, both in Jerusalem and here, shouting that he ought not to live any longer.But I found that he had committed nothing deserving death; and since he himself appealed to the Emperor, I decided to send him.Yet, I have nothing definite about him to write to my lord. Therefore, I have brought him before you all and especially before you, King Agrippa, so that after the investigation has taken place, I may have something to write.For it seems absurd to me in sending a prisoner, not to indicate the charges against him as well.”Now Agrippa said to Paul,“ You are permitted to speak for yourself.” Then Paul extended his hand and proceeded to make his defense:“ Regarding all the things of which I am accused by the Jews, King Agrippa, I consider myself fortunate that I am about to make my defense before you today,especially because you are an expert in all customs and questions among the Jews; therefore I beg you to listen to me patiently.“ So then, all Jews know my way of life since my youth, which from the beginning was spent among my own nation and in Jerusalem,since they have known about me for a long time, if they are willing to testify, that I lived as a Pharisee according to the strictest sect of our religion.And now I am standing trial for the hope of the promise made by God to our fathers;the promise to which our twelve tribes hope to attain, as they earnestly serve God night and day. For this hope, O king, I am being accused by Jews.Why is it considered incredible among you people if God raises the dead?“ So I thought to myself that I had to act in strong opposition to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.And this is just what I did in Jerusalem; not only did I lock up many of the saints in prisons, after receiving authority from the chief priests, but I also cast my vote against them when they were being put to death.And as I punished them often in all the synagogues, I tried to force them to blaspheme; and since I was extremely enraged at them, I kept pursuing them even to foreign cities.

After he had greeted them, he began to relate one by one the things which God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.

for which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher.

After three days Paul called together those who were the leading men of the Jews, and when they came together, he began saying to them,“ Brothers, though I had done nothing against our people or the customs of our fathers, yet I was handed over to the Romans as a prisoner from Jerusalem.And when they had examined me, they were willing to release me because there were no grounds for putting me to death.But when the Jews objected, I was forced to appeal to Caesar, not that I had any accusation against my nation.For this reason, therefore, I requested to see you and to speak with you, since I am wearing this chain for the sake of the hope of Israel.”They said to him,“ We have neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor has any of the brothers come here and reported or spoken anything bad about you.But we desire to hear from you what your views are; for regarding this sect, it is known to us that it is spoken against everywhere.”When they had set a day for Paul, people came to him at his lodging in large numbers; and he was explaining to them by solemnly testifying about the kingdom of God and trying to persuade them concerning Jesus, from both the Law of Moses and from the Prophets, from morning until evening.Some were being persuaded by the things said by Paul, but others would not believe.And when they disagreed with one another, they began leaving after Paul said one parting statement:“ The Holy Spirit rightly spoke through Isaiah the prophet to your fathers,saying,‘ Go to this people and say,“ You will keep on hearing, and will not understand; And you will keep on seeing, and will not perceive;For the hearts of this people have become insensitive, And with their ears they hardly hear, And they have closed their eyes; Otherwise they might see with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart and return, And I would heal them.” ’Therefore, let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will also listen.”Paul, a bond servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God,

saying,‘ Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar; and behold, God has graciously granted you all those who are sailing with you.’

Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying,“ Arise, go to Nineveh, the great city, and proclaim to it the proclamation which I am going to tell you.”

I was made a minister of this church according to the commission from God granted to me for your benefit, so that I might fully carry out the preaching of the word of God,that is, the mystery which had been hidden from the past ages and generations, but now has been revealed to His saints,to whom God willed to make known what the wealth of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles is, the mystery that is Christ in you, the hope of glory.We proclaim Him, admonishing every person and teaching every person with all wisdom, so that we may present every person complete in Christ.For this purpose I also labor, striving according to His power which works mightily within me.
