But the Lord said to Ananias,“ Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.

But when God, who from my birth set me apart and called me by His grace, was pleasedto reveal His Son in me, so that I could preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult with anyone.

I was made a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace that was given to me by the working of His power.This grace was given to me— the least of all the saints— to proclaim to the Gentiles the incalculable riches of the Messiah,

At my first defense, no one stood by me, but everyone deserted me. May it not be counted against them.But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the proclamation might be fully made through me and all the Gentiles might hear. So I was rescued from the lion’s mouth.

We have received grace and apostleship through Him to bring about the obedience of faith among all the nations, on behalf of His name,

I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born. I appointed you a prophet to the nations.

Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. In view of the fact that I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry,

For this I was appointed a herald, an apostle( I am telling the truth; I am not lying), and a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

Paul, an apostle— not from men or by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead—

I will rescue you from the people and from the Gentiles. I now send you to themto open their eyes so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that by faith in Me they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified.’“ Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision.Instead, I preached to those in Damascus first, and to those in Jerusalem and in all the region of Judea, and to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works worthy of repentance.

As they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said,“ Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work I have called them to.”

These will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will conquer them because He is Lord of lords and King of kings. Those with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”

“ Then He said to me,‘ Go, because I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’”

You will even be brought before governors and kings because of Me, to bear witness to them and to the nations.

Nevertheless, I have written to remind you more boldly on some points because of the grace given me by Godto be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, serving as a priest of God’s good news. My purpose is that the offering of the Gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.Therefore I have reason to boast in Christ Jesus regarding what pertains to God.For I would not dare say anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to make the Gentiles obedient by word and deed,by the power of miraculous signs and wonders, and by the power of God’s Spirit. As a result, I have fully proclaimed the good news about the Messiah from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum.My aim is to evangelize where Christ has not been named, so that I will not build on someone else’s foundation,but, as it is written: Those who were not told about Him will see, and those who have not heard will understand.

Or has the potter no right over the clay, to make from the same lump one piece of pottery for honor and another for dishonor?And what if God, desiring to display His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience objects of wrath ready for destruction?And what if He did this to make known the riches of His glory on objects of mercy that He prepared beforehand for glory—on us, the ones He also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles?

On the contrary, they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel for the uncircumcised, just as Peter was for the circumcised,since the One at work in Peter for an apostleship to the circumcised was also at work in me for the Gentiles.When James, Cephas, and John, recognized as pillars, acknowledged the grace that had been given to me, they gave the right hand of fellowship to me and Barnabas, agreeing that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in the concerns of civilian life; he seeks to please the recruiter.

You did not choose Me, but I chose you. I appointed you that you should go out and produce fruit and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you.

But by God’s grace I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not ineffective. However, I worked more than any of them, yet not I, but God’s grace that was with me.

Now go! I will help you speak and I will teach you what to say.”Moses said,“ Please, Lord, send someone else.”Then the Lord’s anger burned against Moses, and He said,“ Isn’t Aaron the Levite your brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, he is on his way now to meet you. He will rejoice when he sees you.

Now I want you to know, brothers, that I often planned to come to you( but was prevented until now) in order that I might have a fruitful ministry among you, just as among the rest of the Gentiles.I am obligated both to Greeks and barbarians, both to the wise and the foolish.So I am eager to preach the good news to you also who are in Rome.

Then Agrippa said to Festus,“ This man could have been released if he had not appealed to Caesar.”

Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver bowls, but also those of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable.So if anyone purifies himself from anything dishonorable, he will be a special instrument, set apart, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.

Then the Lord said to me: Do not say,“ I am only a youth,” for you will go to everyone I send you to and speak whatever I tell you.

Then Agrippa said to Festus,“ I would like to hear the man myself.”“ Tomorrow you will hear him,” he replied.So the next day, Agrippa and Bernice came with great pomp and entered the auditorium with the commanders and prominent men of the city. When Festus gave the command, Paul was brought in.Then Festus said:“ King Agrippa and all men present with us, you see this man about whom the whole Jewish community has appealed to me, both in Jerusalem and here, shouting that he should not live any longer.Now I realized that he had not done anything deserving of death, but when he himself appealed to the Emperor, I decided to send him.I have nothing definite to write to my lord about him. Therefore, I have brought him before all of you, and especially before you, King Agrippa, so that after this examination is over, I may have something to write.For it seems unreasonable to me to send a prisoner and not to indicate the charges against him.”Agrippa said to Paul,“ It is permitted for you to speak for yourself.” Then Paul stretched out his hand and began his defense:“ I consider myself fortunate, King Agrippa, that today I am going to make a defense before you about everything I am accused of by the Jews,especially since you are an expert in all the Jewish customs and controversies. Therefore I beg you to listen to me patiently.“ All the Jews know my way of life from my youth, which was spent from the beginning among my own nation and in Jerusalem.They had previously known me for quite some time, if they were willing to testify, that according to the strictest party of our religion I lived as a Pharisee.And now I stand on trial for the hope of the promise made by God to our fathers,the promise our 12 tribes hope to attain as they earnestly serve Him night and day. King Agrippa, I am being accused by the Jews because of this hope.Why is it considered incredible by any of you that God raises the dead?In fact, I myself supposed it was necessary to do many things in opposition to the name of Jesus the Nazarene.I actually did this in Jerusalem, and I locked up many of the saints in prison, since I had received authority for that from the chief priests. When they were put to death, I cast my vote against them.In all the synagogues I often tried to make them blaspheme by punishing them. I even pursued them to foreign cities since I was greatly enraged at them.

After greeting them, he related in detail what God did among the Gentiles through his ministry.

For this gospel I was appointed a herald, apostle, and teacher,

After three days he called together the leaders of the Jews. When they had gathered he said to them:“ Brothers, although I have done nothing against our people or the customs of our ancestors, I was delivered as a prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.After they examined me, they wanted to release me, since I had not committed a capital offense.Because the Jews objected, I was compelled to appeal to Caesar; it was not as though I had any accusation against my nation.For this reason I’ve asked to see you and speak to you. In fact, it is for the hope of Israel that I’m wearing this chain.”Then they said to him,“ We haven’t received any letters about you from Judea. None of the brothers has come and reported or spoken anything evil about you.But we would like to hear from you what you think. For concerning this sect, we are aware that it is spoken against everywhere.”After arranging a day with him, many came to him at his lodging. From dawn to dusk he expounded and witnessed about the kingdom of God. He tried to persuade them concerning Jesus from both the Law of Moses and the Prophets.Some were persuaded by what he said, but others did not believe.Disagreeing among themselves, they began to leave after Paul made one statement:“ The Holy Spirit correctly spoke through the prophet Isaiah to your ancestorswhen He said, Go to these people and say: You will listen and listen, yet never understand; and you will look and look, yet never perceive.For the hearts of these people have grown callous, their ears are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes; otherwise they might see with their eyes and hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and be converted, and I would heal them.Therefore, let it be known to you that this saving work of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen!”Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle and singled out for God’s good news—

and said,‘ Don’t be afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar. And, look! God has graciously given you all those who are sailing with you.’

Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time:“ Get up! Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach the message that I tell you.”

I have become its servant, according to God’s administration that was given to me for you, to make God’s message fully known,the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to His saints.God wanted to make known among the Gentiles the glorious wealth of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.We proclaim Him, warning and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ.I labor for this, striving with His strength that works powerfully in me.
