In his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.”

惟於司祭長及耆老之控訴、概不置答。比辣多曰：『人控爾多端、爾不聞乎？』仍默無一言、方伯異之。每屆盛節、方伯徇民之請、例釋一囚。時有著名囚犯曰巴辣巴。眾人既集、比辣多問曰：『爾欲誰釋、巴辣巴乎？抑號稱基督之耶穌乎？』方伯固知若輩之解送耶穌、純出嫉妒耳。比辣多坐堂時、其夫人遣人來告曰：『勿預此義者事！予適緣彼得夢、殊苦。』惟司祭長耆老輩、則唆眾求釋巴辣巴、而殺耶穌。方伯又問眾曰：『二者中欲釋誰？』眾曰：『巴辣巴。』曰：『然則號稱基督之耶穌：將何以處之。』眾呼曰：『釘之十字架！』曰：『異哉、彼曾犯何罪？』眾大呼曰：『釘之十字架！』比辣多見無濟、且恐民眾生變、乃當眾取水盥手曰：『此義者之血、我無染焉、爾自承之。』眾應曰：『願其血歸我及我子孫。』比辣多乃釋巴辣巴、鞭耶穌、而付之於眾、俾釘之於十字架。

世之豐席厚履者固當飲水而思源兮。困苦瀕死者亦應俯伏而投誠。勗哉吾魂。為主而生。

體渙解兮骨脫。心消融兮如蠟。

其為人也、復謙之又謙、損之又損、惟天主之命是從；鞠躬盡瘁、死而後已、終至致命於十字架上。因是天主亦舉之於萬有之上、鍚以聖名、舉世無匹、萬古流芳、

此後比辣多更圖釋之；詎猶太人疾呼曰：『爾釋此人、則不得為凱撒友矣！凡自稱為王者、即與凱撒為敵者也。』比辣多既聞是言、乃攜耶穌出、至一處曰石砌、希伯來語曰伽巴大而升坐定讞焉。是日適值免難節預備日、時在正午。比辣多謂猶大人曰：『睹爾王！』眾乃大呼曰：『去之！去之！釘之於十字架上！』比辣多曰：『吾可釘死爾之王耶？』司祭長應曰：『凱撒而外、吾更無王！』於是比辣多付耶穌於眾以釘之。
