他被虐待，受痛苦的時候，他並不開口；他像羊羔被牽去屠宰，又像羊在剪羊毛的人面前寂然無聲，他也是這樣不開口。他受拘禁和審判以後被帶走；至於他那個世代的人中，有誰想到從活人之地被剪除，被擊打，是因我子民的過犯呢？

我必使他們像羊羔，像公綿羊和公山羊一樣下到屠宰之地。

你使我們像給人宰吃的羊，把我們分散在列國中。你把你的子民廉價出售；他們的售價並沒有使你得到利益。

我靜默不出聲，甚至連好話也不說（“甚至連好話也不說”或譯：“我安靜也得不到安慰”），我的痛苦就更加劇烈。

正如經上所記：“為你的緣故，我們終日面對死亡，人看我們像待宰的羊。”

至於我，我卻像一隻馴良的羊羔，被牽到屠宰之地；我並不知道他們設計謀害我。他們說：“我們來把這樹和果子（“果子”原文作“它的食物”）都毀滅吧，把它從活人之地剪除，使它的名不再被人記念。”

因為是你作了這事，我就靜默不開口。

第二天，約翰見耶穌迎面而來，就說：“看哪，神的羊羔，是除去世人的罪孽的！

但耶和華啊！你認識我，了解我，你察驗了我對你的心意。求你把他們拉出來，好像將宰的羊一般；求你把他們分別出來，留待宰殺的日子。

大祭司就站起來，對耶穌說：“你為甚麼不回答？這些人作證，控告你的是甚麼呢？”耶穌卻不作聲。大祭司又對他說：“我指著永生的神要你起誓，告訴我們你是不是基督、神的兒子。”

而是憑著基督的寶血，就像無瑕疵無玷污的羊羔的血。

耶穌說：“父啊，赦免他們！因為他們不知道自己所作的是甚麼。”士兵抽籤，分了他的衣服。

這應驗了耶穌說過的話：“你賜給我的人，我一個也沒有失落。”西門．彼得帶著一把刀，就拔出來，向大祭司的僕人馬勒古砍去，削掉他的右耳。耶穌對彼得說：“把刀收入鞘裡去！父給我的杯，我怎能不喝呢？”
