and said,“ Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”

He said,“ Give me this power too. Then everyone I place my hands on will receive the Holy Spirit.”

“ Let me have this power, too,” he exclaimed,“ so that when I lay my hands on people, they will receive the Holy Spirit!”

Now he told a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they chose the places of honor, saying to them,“ When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not sit down in a place of honor, lest someone more distinguished than you be invited by him,and he who invited you both will come and say to you,‘ Give your place to this person,’ and then you will begin with shame to take the lowest place.But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when your host comes he may say to you,‘ Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at table with you.For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying,“ Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of themand said,“ Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

Then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit.

How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?

Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great,and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed,“ This man is rightly called the Great Power of God.”They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his sorcery.
