He told a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they would choose the best places for themselves:“ When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet, don’t sit in the place of honor, because a more distinguished person than you may have been invited by your host.The one who invited both of you may come and say to you,‘ Give your place to this man,’ and then in humiliation, you will proceed to take the lowest place.“ But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when the one who invited you comes, he will say to you,‘ Friend, move up higher.’ You will then be honored in the presence of all the other guests.For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked,“ So who is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”He called a small child and had him stand among them.“ Truly I tell you,” he said,“ unless you turn and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Last of all, as to one born at the wrong time, he also appeared to me.For I am the least of the apostles, not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

How can you believe, since you accept glory from one another but don’t seek the glory that comes from the only God?

Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great,and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed,“ This man is rightly called the Great Power of God.”They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his sorcery.
