他們以為保羅的手一定會腫起來或者他會突然倒斃，但是等了很久，見他還是安然無恙，就改變了態度，說他是個神明。

周圍的人看見保羅所行的，就用呂高尼話大聲說：「神明化成人形下凡了！」

誰都無需再教導他的鄰居和弟兄，說，『你要認識耶和華』，因為他們無論尊卑都必認識我。我要赦免他們的過犯，忘掉他們的罪惡。這是耶和華說的。」

但對於蒙召的人，無論是猶太人還是希臘人，基督是上帝的能力、上帝的智慧。

因為他們無論貴賤，個個都貪圖不義之財；無論是先知還是祭司，都行為詭詐。

我看見怪獸的一個頭似乎受了致命傷，這傷卻復原了。全世界的人都驚奇地跟從了牠。

許多人會效法他們邪惡無恥的行為，致使真理之道被人毀謗。

這樣，我們就不再像小孩子，被各種異端邪說之風吹得飄來飄去，被人的陰謀詭計欺騙，隨波逐流。

尼尼微城的人相信了上帝的話，便宣告禁食，所有的人，無論大小貴賤都換上麻衣。

因為你們這些聰明人竟然甘願忍受那些傻瓜，
