是時天主未嘗在此地賜之以業、即立足之地、亦未賜之、惟許以此地賜彼及其子孫為業、時亞伯拉罕尚未有子也、

He gave him no inheritance here, not even enough ground to set his foot on. But God promised him that he and his descendants after him would possess the land, even though at that time Abraham had no child.

God didn’t give him any property here. He didn’t even give him enough land to set his foot on. But God made a promise to him and to all his family after him. He said they would possess the land. The promise was made even though at that time Abraham had no child.

Yet he gave him no inheritance in it, not even a foot’s length, but promised to give it to him as a possession and to his offspring after him, though he had no child.

必以爾所居之地、即迦南全地、賜爾及爾後裔、永為世業、我亦為其天主、

主顯現於亞伯蘭曰、我將以此地賜爾後裔、亞伯蘭在彼為顯現之主建祭臺、

凡所見之地、我必賜爾及爾後裔至於永遠、

當日主與亞伯蘭立約曰、我以斯地賜爾後裔、自伊及河至伯拉大河、

旅於斯地、我必祐爾、賜福於爾、我以此列邦賜爾及爾後裔、昔我與爾父亞伯拉罕誓、我必踐其言、

主見其心誠信於主前、與之立約、許以迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、耶布斯人、革迦西人之地、賜其苗裔、主為至義、已踐前言、

主告之曰、昔我誓於亞伯拉罕以撒雅各曰、我以地賜爾後裔、其地即此、我使爾目睹、惟不得過約但而至之焉、

我於爾中寄居為旅、請在此以片地予我、以為塋地、可葬我當前之死者、

主立於梯上、或作立於其側曰、我乃耶和華、即爾祖亞伯拉罕之天主、與以撒之天主、爾所臥之地、悉以賜爾及爾後裔、爾之後裔、將多如地之塵沙、向東西南北蔓延、天下萬族、因爾與爾後裔得福、爾無論何往、我必祐爾護爾、使爾歸斯地、不遐棄爾、我所許爾者、必踐其言、

爾之得入而獲其地、非為爾之善、非為爾之正心、乃為斯民之惡、主爾之天主逐之於爾前、亦為主欲應所誓於爾祖亞伯拉罕以撒雅各之言、

亦可久居於主所誓賜爾祖及其後裔之地、即流蜜與乳之地、

彼有信而為旅於天主所許之地、如在異邦、居於幕、與後蒙應許之以撒雅各同、希望天主所經營建造有基之邑、

我必以爾為我民、而我將為爾天主、使爾知我耶和華乃爾之天主、救爾脫伊及人所加爾之重負、我昔誓賜亞伯拉罕以撒雅各之地、我必導爾至彼、賜爾為業、我乃耶和華也、

昔主爾之天主誓於爾祖亞伯拉罕以撒雅各、賜爾以地、既導爾入、使爾得非爾所建廣大且美之城邑、非爾所充充以嘉物之宅第、非爾所鑿己鑿之井、非爾所植之葡萄園、油果樹、爾食之而飽、

我必賜之以福、使之從爾生子、我必賜之以福、使為列族之母、列邦之王必由彼出、亞伯拉罕俯伏而哂、自思曰、百歲之人、豈能生子、撒拉已九十歲、豈能生育乎、亞伯拉罕對天主曰、惟願以實瑪利、得生於主前、天主曰、爾妻撒拉果必生子、可命名以撒、我將與彼及其後裔立我約、以為永約、

主諭我曰、爾啟行導斯民、使其可入而得我所誓賜於爾列祖之地、○

勿與戰爭、其地我不賜爾、即容一足之地我亦不賜爾、因我已將西珥山、賜以掃為業、

永遠記念所立之約、所定之命、萬世不忘、即與亞伯拉罕所立之約、向以撒所發之誓、為雅各定為長久之命、與以色列立為永遠之約、曰、我必賜爾以迦南地、為爾應得之產業、當時彼尚人寡、其數無幾、在斯地寄居為旅、

撒萊謂亞伯蘭曰、主不賜我生育、爾且與我婢同室、我或可因之得子、亞伯蘭從撒萊言、

亞伯蘭曰、主天主歟、何以賜我、蓋我無子、惟大瑪色人以利亞薩將為我嗣、將為我嗣或作為我家宰亞伯蘭又曰、主未賜我子、則育於我家者、將為我嗣、主諭之曰、此非爾嗣、惟自爾出者、乃為爾嗣、遂攜之出外曰、仰觀天、試數眾星能勝數呼、又曰、爾之後裔必如是、

此皆至死有信而未得所許者、惟遙望之、即欣喜以待、自謂在世為客旅、為寄居者、凡自謂如是者、明其欲得家鄉、彼若思所出之故鄉、尚有機可返、然彼等慕更美之家鄉、即在天者、故天主自稱為彼之天主不以為恥、而為之備邑、
