Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be prince over my people, over Israel;and I have been with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee; and I will make thee a great name, like unto the name of the great ones that are in the earth.And I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as at the first,and as from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel; and I will cause thee to rest from all thine enemies. Moreover Jehovah telleth thee that Jehovah will make thee a house.When thy days are fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, that shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.I will be his father, and he shall be my son: if he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men;but my lovingkindness shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.And thy house and thy kingdom shall be made sure for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

And Jehovah said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from being king over Israel? fill thy horn with oil, and go: I will send thee to Jesse the Beth- lehemite; for I have provided me a king among his sons.

Then David the king went in, and sat before Jehovah; and he said, Who am I, O Lord Jehovah, and what is my house, that thou hast brought me thus far?And this was yet a small thing in thine eyes, O Lord Jehovah; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant’s house for a great while to come; and this too after the manner of men, O Lord Jehovah!

Then thou spakest in vision to thy saints, And saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.I have found David my servant; With my holy oil have I anointed him:With whom my hand shall be established; Mine arm also shall strengthen him.The enemy shall not exact from him, Nor the son of wickedness afflict him.And I will beat down his adversaries before him, And smite them that hate him.But my faithfulness and my lovingkindness shall be with him; And in my name shall his horn be exalted.I will set his hand also on the sea, And his right hand on the rivers.He shall cry unto me, Thou art my Father, My God, and the rock of my salvation.I also will make him my first- born, The highest of the kings of the earth.My lovingkindness will I keep for him for evermore; And my covenant shall stand fast with him.His seed also will I make to endure for ever, And his throne as the days of heaven.If his children forsake my law, And walk not in mine ordinances;If they break my statutes, And keep not my commandments;Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, And their iniquity with stripes.But my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, Nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.My covenant will I not break, Nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.Once have I sworn by my holiness: I will not lie unto David:His seed shall endure for ever, And his throne as the sun before me.It shall be established for ever as the moon, And as the faithful witness in the sky.[ Selah

Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Jehovah, the God of Israel.But Jehovah said unto David my father, Whereas it was in thy heart to build a house for my name, thou didst well that it was in thy heart:nevertheless thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house for my name.

Jehovah hath sworn unto David in truth; He will not turn from it: Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

And David said unto Michal, It was before Jehovah, who chose me above thy father, and above all his house, to appoint me prince over the people of Jehovah, over Israel: therefore will I play before Jehovah.

And Samuel said unto him, Jehovah hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbor of thine, that is better than thou.

And David said to Solomon his son, As for me, it was in my heart to build a house unto the name of Jehovah my God.But the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build a house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.

And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he is keeping the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him; for we will not sit down till he come hither.And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look upon. And Jehovah said, Arise, anoint him; for this is he.Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of Jehovah came mightily upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for the things of gold, and the silver for the things of silver, and the brass for the things of brass, the iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, stones for inlaid work, and of divers colors, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.Moreover also, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, seeing that I have a treasure of mine own of gold and silver, I give it unto the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,

But chose the tribe of Judah, The mount Zion which he loved.And he built his sanctuary like the heights, Like the earth which he hath established for ever.He chose David also his servant, And took him from the sheepfolds:From following the ewes that have their young he brought him, To be the shepherd of Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.So he was their shepherd according to the integrity of his heart, And guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.

Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: as for me, it was in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and for the footstool of our God; and I had made ready for the building.But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build a house for my name, because thou art a man of war, and hast shed blood.Howbeit Jehovah, the God of Israel, chose me out of all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah to be prince; and in the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he took pleasure in me to make me king over all Israel;And of all my sons( for Jehovah hath given me many sons), he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of Jehovah over Israel.
