And Jehovah said unto Moses, See, I have made thee as God to Pharaoh; and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.Thou shalt speak all that I command thee; and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.But Pharaoh will not hearken unto you, and I will lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth my hosts, my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.And the Egyptians shall know that I am Jehovah, when I stretch forth my hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.And Moses and Aaron did so; as Jehovah commanded them, so did they.And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh.And Jehovah spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Show a wonder for you; then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it become a serpent.And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so, as Jehovah had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.Then Pharaoh also called for the wise men and the sorcerers: and they also, the magicians of Egypt, did in like manner with their enchantments.For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.And Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as Jehovah had spoken.And Jehovah said unto Moses, Pharaoh’s heart is stubborn, he refuseth to let the people go.

And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and Jehovah overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, even all the host of Pharaoh that went in after them into the sea; there remained not so much as one of them.But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

They set among them his signs, And wonders in the land of Ham.He sent darkness, and made it dark; And they rebelled not against his words.He turned their waters into blood, And slew their fish.Their land swarmed with frogs In the chambers of their kings.He spake, and there came swarms of flies, And lice in all their borders.He gave them hail for rain, And flaming fire in their land.He smote their vines also and their fig- trees, And brake the trees of their borders.He spake, and the locust came, And the grasshopper, and that without number,And did eat up every herb in their land, And did eat up the fruit of their ground.He smote also all the first- born in their land, The chief of all their strength.

And the children of Israel did eat the manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat the manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan.

Yea, when they had made them a molten calf, and said, This is thy God that brought thee up out of Egypt, and had wrought great provocations;yet thou in thy manifold mercies forsookest them not in the wilderness: the pillar of cloud departed not from over them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to show them light, and the way wherein they should go.Thou gavest also thy good Spirit to instruct them, and withheldest not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst.Yea, forty years didst thou sustain them in the wilderness, and they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not.Moreover thou gavest them kingdoms and peoples, which thou didst allot after their portions: so they possessed the land of Sihon, even the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan.

Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, In the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.He clave the sea, and caused them to pass through; And he made the waters to stand as a heap.In the day- time also he led them with a cloud, And all the night with a light of fire.He clave rocks in the wilderness, And gave them drink abundantly as out of the depths.He brought streams also out of the rock, And caused waters to run down like rivers.Yet went they on still to sin against him, To rebel against the Most High in the desert.And they tempted God in their heart By asking food according to their desire.Yea, they spake against God; They said, Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?Behold, he smote the rock, so that waters gushed out, And streams overflowed; Can he give bread also? Will he provide flesh for his people?Therefore Jehovah heard, and was wroth; And a fire was kindled against Jacob, And anger also went up against Israel;Because they believed not in God, And trusted not in his salvation.Yet he commanded the skies above, And opened the doors of heaven;And he rained down manna upon them to eat, And gave them food from heaven.Man did eat the bread of the mighty: He sent them food to the full.He caused the east wind to blow in the heavens; And by his power he guided the south wind.He rained flesh also upon them as the dust, And winged birds as the sand of the seas:And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, Round about their habitations.So they did eat, and were well filled; And he gave them their own desire.They were not estranged from that which they desired, Their food was yet in their mouths,When the anger of God went up against them, And slew of the fattest of them, And smote down the young men of Israel.For all this they sinned still, And believed not in his wondrous works.Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, And their years in terror.

Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers In the day that I took them by the hand to lead them forth out of the land of Egypt; For they continued not in my covenant, And I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.

They remembered not his hand, Nor the day when he redeemed them from the adversary;How he set his signs in Egypt, And his wonders in the field of Zoan,And turned their rivers into blood, And their streams, so that they could not drink.He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them; And frogs, which destroyed them.He gave also their increase unto the caterpillar, And their labor unto the locust.He destroyed their vines with hail, And their sycomore- trees with frost.He gave over their cattle also to the hail, And their flocks to hot thunderbolts.He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, Wrath, and indignation, and trouble, A band of angels of evil.He made a path for his anger; He spared not their soul from death, But gave their life over to the pestilence,And smote all the first- born in Egypt, The chief of their strength in the tents of Ham.

The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, And covered the company of Abiram.And a fire was kindled in their company; The flame burned up the wicked.

And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness:and the children of Israel said unto them, Would that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh- pots, when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.Then said Jehovah unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or not.And it shall come to pass on the sixth day, that they shall prepare that which they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, At even, then ye shall know that Jehovah hath brought you out from the land of Egypt;and in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of Jehovah; for that he heareth your murmurings against Jehovah: and what are we, that ye murmur against us?And Moses said, This shall be, when Jehovah shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that Jehovah heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against Jehovah.And Moses said unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before Jehovah; for he hath heard your murmurings.And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of Jehovah appeared in the cloud.And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread: and ye shall know that I am Jehovah your God.And it came to pass at even, that the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the camp.And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness a small round thing, small as the hoar- frost on the ground.And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, What is it? For they knew not what it was. And Moses said unto them, It is the bread which Jehovah hath given you to eat.This is the thing which Jehovah hath commanded, Gather ye of it every man according to his eating; an omer a head, according to the number of your persons, shall ye take it, every man for them that are in his tent.And the children of Israel did so, and gathered some more, some less.

And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would that we had died in this wilderness!And wherefore doth Jehovah bring us unto this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will be a prey: were it not better for us to return into Egypt?And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.And Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were of them that spied out the land, rent their clothes:and they spake unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceeding good land.If Jehovah delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it unto us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.Only rebel not against Jehovah, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is removed from over them, and Jehovah is with us: fear them not.But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of Jehovah appeared in the tent of meeting unto all the children of Israel.And Jehovah said unto Moses, How long will this people despise me? and how long will they not believe in me, for all the signs which I have wrought among them?I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of thee a nation greater and mightier than they.And Moses said unto Jehovah, Then the Egyptians will hear it; for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;and they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that thou Jehovah art in the midst of this people; for thou Jehovah art seen face to face, and thy cloud standeth over them, and thou goest before them, in a pillar of cloud by day, and in a pillar of fire by night.Now if thou shalt kill this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying,Because Jehovah was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness.And now, I pray thee, let the power of the Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,Jehovah is slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression; and that will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation.Pardon, I pray thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy lovingkindness, and according as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.And Jehovah said, I have pardoned according to thy word:but in very deed, as I live, and as all the earth shall be filled with the glory of Jehovah;because all those men that have seen my glory, and my signs, which I wrought in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have tempted me these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that despised me see it:but my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.Now the Amalekite and the Canaanite dwell in the valley: to- morrow turn ye, and get you into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.And Jehovah spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, that murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.Say unto them, As I live, saith Jehovah, surely as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, that have murmured against me,surely ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware that I would make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.But your little ones, that ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have rejected.But as for you, your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness.And your children shall be wanderers in the wilderness forty years, and shall bear your whoredoms, until your dead bodies be consumed in the wilderness.After the number of the days in which ye spied out the land, even forty days, for every day a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my alienation.I, Jehovah, have spoken, surely this will I do unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.And the men, whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up an evil report against the land,even those men that did bring up an evil report of the land, died by the plague before Jehovah.But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, remained alive of those men that went to spy out the land.And Moses told these words unto all the children of Israel: and the people mourned greatly.And they rose up early in the morning, and gat them up to the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we are here, and will go up unto the place which Jehovah hath promised: for we have sinned.And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of Jehovah, seeing it shall not prosper?Go not up, for Jehovah is not among you; that ye be not smitten down before your enemies.For there the Amalekite and the Canaanite are before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned back from following Jehovah, therefore Jehovah will not be with you.But they presumed to go up to the top of the mountain: nevertheless the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and Moses, departed not out of the camp.Then the Amalekite came down, and the Canaanite who dwelt in that mountain, and smote them and beat them down, even unto Hormah.

Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men:and they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the congregation, called to the assembly, men of renown;and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and Jehovah is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the assembly of Jehovah?And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face:and he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, In the morning Jehovah will show who are his, and who is holy, and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he shall choose will he cause to come near unto him.This do: take you censers, Korah, and all his company;and put fire in them, and put incense upon them before Jehovah to- morrow: and it shall be that the man whom Jehovah doth choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi.And Moses said unto Korah, Hear now, ye sons of Levi:seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself, to do the service of the tabernacle of Jehovah, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them;and that he hath brought thee near, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee? and seek ye the priesthood also?Therefore thou and all thy company are gathered together against Jehovah: and Aaron, what is he that ye murmur against him?And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab; and they said, We will not come up:is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, but thou must needs make thyself also a prince over us?Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.And Moses was very wroth, and said unto Jehovah, Respect not thou their offering: I have not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one of them.And Moses said unto Korah, Be thou and all thy company before Jehovah, thou, and they, and Aaron, to- morrow:and take ye every man his censer, and put incense upon them, and bring ye before Jehovah every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; thou also, and Aaron, each his censer.

Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, That he might make his mighty power to be known.He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up: So he led them through the depths, as through a wilderness.And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.And the waters covered their adversaries; There was not one of them left.

And the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month: and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.And there was no water for the congregation: and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.And the people strove with Moses, and spake, saying, Would that we had died when our brethren died before Jehovah!And why have ye brought the assembly of Jehovah into this wilderness, that we should die there, we and our beasts?And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tent of meeting, and fell upon their faces: and the glory of Jehovah appeared unto them.And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes, that it give forth its water; and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock; so thou shalt give the congregation and their cattle drink.And Moses took the rod from before Jehovah, as he commanded him.And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; shall we bring you forth water out of this rock?And Moses lifted up his hand, and smote the rock with his rod twice: and water came forth abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their cattle.And Jehovah said unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed not in me, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.These are the waters of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with Jehovah, and he was sanctified in them.And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us:how our fathers went down into Egypt, and we dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians dealt ill with us, and our fathers:and when we cried unto Jehovah, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border.Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy land: we will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink of the water of the wells; we will go along the king’s highway; we will not turn aside to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy border.And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass through me, lest I come out with the sword against thee.And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go up by the highway; and if we drink of thy water, I and my cattle, then will I give the price thereof: let me only, without doing anything else, pass through on my feet.And he said, Thou shalt not pass through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border: wherefore Israel turned away from him.

He spread a cloud for a covering, And fire to give light in the night.They asked, and he brought quails, And satisfied them with the bread of heaven.He opened the rock, and waters gushed out; They ran in the dry places like a river.For he remembered his holy word, And Abraham his servant.And he brought forth his people with joy, And his chosen with singing.And he gave them the lands of the nations; And they took the labor of the peoples in possession:That they might keep his statutes, And observe his laws. Praise ye Jehovah.

Did ever a people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that Jehovah your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?Unto thee it was showed, that thou mightest know that Jehovah he is God; there is none else besides him.Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he made thee to see his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out with his presence, with his great power, out of Egypt;

Forty years long was I grieved with that generation, And said, It is a people that do err in their heart, And they have not known my ways:

And for about the time of forty years as a nursing- father bare he them in the wilderness.

But God turned, and gave them up to serve the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, Did ye offer unto me slain beasts and sacrifices Forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?

Moreover in a pillar of cloud thou leddest them by day; and in a pillar of fire by night, to give them light in the way wherein they should go.Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments,and madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them commandments, and statutes, and a law, by Moses thy servant,and gavest them bread from heaven for their hunger, and broughtest forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and commandedst them that they should go in to possess the land which thou hadst sworn to give them.

This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the peoples that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear the report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,Let me pass through thy land: I will go along by the highway, I will turn neither unto the right hand nor to the left.Thou shalt sell me food for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only let me pass through on my feet;as the children of Esau that dwell in Seir, and the Moabites that dwell in Ar, did unto me; until I shall pass over the Jordan into the land which Jehovah our God giveth us.But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him; for Jehovah thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as at this day.And Jehovah said unto me, Behold, I have begun to deliver up Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, unto battle at Jahaz.And Jehovah our God delivered him up before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed every inhabited city, with the women and the little ones; we left none remaining:only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, with the spoil of the cities which we had taken.From Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, and from the city that is in the valley, even unto Gilead, there was not a city too high for us; Jehovah our God delivered up all before us:only to the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not near; all the side of the river Jabbok, and the cities of the hill- country, and wheresoever Jehovah our God forbade us.

And the people were as murmurers, speaking evil in the ears of Jehovah: and when Jehovah heard it, his anger was kindled; and the fire of Jehovah burnt among them, and devoured in the uttermost part of the camp.And the people cried unto Moses; and Moses prayed unto Jehovah, and the fire abated.And the name of that place was called Taberah, because the fire of Jehovah burnt among them.And the mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt for nought; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic:but now our soul is dried away; there is nothing at all save this manna to look upon.And the manna was like coriander seed, and the appearance thereof as the appearance of bdellium.The people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in mortars, and boiled it in pots, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil.And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.And Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, every man at the door of his tent: and the anger of Jehovah was kindled greatly; and Moses was displeased.And Moses said unto Jehovah, Wherefore hast thou dealt ill with thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favor in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?Have I conceived all this people? have I brought them forth, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing- father carrieth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favor in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.And Jehovah said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tent of meeting, that they may stand there with thee.And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the Spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against to- morrow, and ye shall eat flesh; for ye have wept in the ears of Jehovah, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore Jehovah will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days,but a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you; because that ye have rejected Jehovah who is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.Shall flocks and herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?And Jehovah said unto Moses, Is Jehovah’s hand waxed short? now shalt thou see whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.And Moses went out, and told the people the words of Jehovah: and he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the Tent.And Jehovah came down in the cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the Spirit that was upon him, and put it upon the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, but they did so no more.But there remained two men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the Spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but had not gone out unto the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.And Joshua the son of Nun, the minister of Moses, one of his chosen men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.And Moses said unto him, Art thou jealous for my sake? would that all Jehovah’s people were prophets, that Jehovah would put his Spirit upon them!And Moses gat him into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.And there went forth a wind from Jehovah, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, about a day’s journey on this side, and a day’s journey on the other side, round about the camp, and about two cubits above the face of the earth.And the people rose up all that day, and all the night, and all the next day, and gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.While the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the anger of Jehovah was kindled against the people, and Jehovah smote the people with a very great plague.And the name of that place was called Kibroth- hattaavah, because there they buried the people that lusted.From Kibroth- hattaavah the people journeyed unto Hazeroth; and they abode at Hazeroth.

and showedst signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land; for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them, and didst get thee a name, as it is this day.

Who smote the first- born of Egypt, Both of man and beast;Who sent signs and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, Upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants;Who smote many nations, And slew mighty kings,Sihon king of the Amorites, And Og king of Bashan, And all the kingdoms of Canaan,And gave their land for a heritage, A heritage unto Israel his people.

In the third month after the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai.And when they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the wilderness of Sinai, they encamped in the wilderness; and there Israel encamped before the mount.And Moses went up unto God, and Jehovah called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be mine own possession from among all peoples: for all the earth is mine:and ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which Jehovah commanded him.And all the people answered together, and said, All that Jehovah hath spoken we will do. And Moses reported the words of the people unto Jehovah.And Jehovah said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and may also believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto Jehovah.And Jehovah said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to- day and to- morrow, and let them wash their garments,and be ready against the third day; for the third day Jehovah will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:no hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, he shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.And Moses went down from the mount unto the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their garments.And he said unto the people, Be ready against the third day: come not near a woman.And it came to pass on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of a trumpet exceeding loud; and all the people that were in the camp trembled.And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.And mount Sinai, the whole of it, smoked, because Jehovah descended upon it in fire; and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.And when the voice of the trumpet waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.And Jehovah came down upon mount Sinai, to the top of the mount: and Jehovah called Moses to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.

The moon and stars to rule by night; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever:To him that smote Egypt in their first- born; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;And brought out Israel from among them; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;With a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever:To him that divided the Red Sea in sunder; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;And made Israel to pass through the midst of it; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red Sea; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever:To him that led his people through the wilderness; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever:To him that smote great kings; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;And slew famous kings; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever:Sihon king of the Amorites; For his lovingkindness endureth forever;And Og king of Bashan; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;And gave their land for a heritage; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;

And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?An he cried unto Jehovah; And Jehovah showed him a tree, and he cast it into the waters, and the waters were made sweet. There he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them;

And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, even the tent of the testimony: and at even it was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until morning.So it was alway: the cloud covered it, and the appearance of fire by night.And whenever the cloud was taken up from over the Tent, then after that the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode, there the children of Israel encamped.At the commandment of Jehovah the children of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of Jehovah they encamped: as long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they remained encamped.And when the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle many days, then the children of Israel kept the charge of Jehovah, and journeyed not.And sometimes the cloud was a few days upon the tabernacle; then according to the commandment of Jehovah they remained encamped, and according to the commandment of Jehovah they journeyed.And sometimes the cloud was from evening until morning; and when the cloud was taken up in the morning, they journeyed: or if it continued by day and by night, when the cloud was taken up, they journeyed.Whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle, abiding thereon, the children of Israel remained encamped, and journeyed not; but when it was taken up, they journeyed.At the commandment of Jehovah they encamped, and at the commandment of Jehovah they journeyed: they kept the charge of Jehovah, at the commandment of Jehovah by Moses.

then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh’s bondmen in Egypt: and Jehovah brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand;and Jehovah showed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his house, before our eyes;
