“我们严厉地吩咐过你们，不准再奉这名教导。看，你们却把你们的道理传遍了耶路撒冷，想要把流这人的血的责任推到我们身上。”

说：“我们不是严厉地吩咐你们，不可奉这个人的名教导人吗？可是看哪，你们把你们的教导传遍了耶路撒冷，又想把这个人的血归到我们身上。”

「我們不是嚴嚴地禁止你們，不可奉這名教訓人嗎？你們倒把你們的道理充滿了耶路撒冷，想要叫這人的血歸到我們身上！」

“我們嚴厲地吩咐過你們，不准再奉這名教導。看，你們卻把你們的道理傳遍了耶路撒冷，想要把流這人的血的責任推到我們身上。”

『我們再三地囑咐了你們、不可奉這個名教訓人。你看，你們倒把你們的教訓充滿了耶路撒冷，想要引這人的血債歸到我們身上來呢！』

說：「我們不是嚴厲地吩咐你們，不可奉這個人的名教導人嗎？可是看哪，你們把你們的教導傳遍了耶路撒冷，又想把這個人的血歸到我們身上。」

我儕曾嚴戒爾曹、勿以斯名訓誨、爾乃以爾教徧布耶路撒冷、欲以斯人之血歸我儕也、

我儕非嚴禁爾曹、勿以此名訓人乎、爾乃遍耶路撒冷播教、欲以此人之血歸咎我也、○

我儕非嚴禁爾曹勿以此名訓人乎、乃遍耶路撒冷、傳播爾教、欲以此人之血、歸咎我也、

『吾未嚴禁爾曹勿復奉斯名而教人乎？今則反以其道徧傳耶路撒冷、豈欲以其人之血歸諸吾身乎？』

“ We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,” he said.“ Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.”

“ We gave you clear orders not to teach in Jesus’ name,” he said.“ But you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching. You want to make us guilty of this man’s death.”

saying,“ We strictly charged you not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.”

“ Didn’t we strictly order you not to teach in this name? Look, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.”

saying,“ We gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name, and yet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this Man’s blood upon us.”

saying,“ Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!”

saying, We strictly charged you not to teach in this name: and behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.

“ Didn’t we strictly order you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to bring this man’s blood on us!”

Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.

saying,“ We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name. Look, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man’s blood on us!”

saying,“ Didn’t we strictly command you not to teach in this name? Behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and intend to bring this man’s blood on us.”

And all the people yelled back,“ We will take responsibility for his death— we and our children!”

Name one prophet your ancestors didn’t persecute! They even killed the ones who predicted the coming of the Righteous One— the Messiah whom you betrayed and murdered.

Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead.For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says,‘ The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’

So they called the apostles back in and commanded them never again to speak or teach in the name of Jesus.But Peter and John replied,“ Do you think God wants us to obey you rather than him?We cannot stop telling about everything we have seen and heard.”The council then threatened them further, but they finally let them go because they didn’t know how to punish them without starting a riot. For everyone was praising God

The king of Israel replied to Jehoshaphat,“ There is one more man who could consult the Lord for us, but I hate him. He never prophesies anything but trouble for me! His name is Micaiah son of Imlah.” Jehoshaphat replied,“ That’s not the way a king should talk! Let’s hear what he has to say.”

“ So, my enemy, you have found me!” Ahab exclaimed to Elijah.“ Yes,” Elijah answered,“ I have come because you have sold yourself to what is evil in the Lord’s sight.

But if you kill me, rest assured that you will be killing an innocent man! The responsibility for such a deed will lie on you, on this city, and on every person living in it. For it is absolutely true that the Lord sent me to speak every word you have heard.”

So these officials went to the king and said,“ Sir, this man must die! That kind of talk will undermine the morale of the few fighting men we have left, as well as that of all the people. This man is a traitor!”

You rejected this holy, righteous one and instead demanded the release of a murderer.You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. And we are witnesses of this fact!

But God knew what would happen, and his prearranged plan was carried out when Jesus was betrayed. With the help of lawless Gentiles, you nailed him to a cross and killed him.But God released him from the horrors of death and raised him back to life, for death could not keep him in its grip.King David said this about him:‘ I see that the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.No wonder my heart is glad, and my tongue shouts his praises! My body rests in hope.For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your Holy One to rot in the grave.You have shown me the way of life, and you will fill me with the joy of your presence.’“ Dear brothers, think about this! You can be sure that the patriarch David wasn’t referring to himself, for he died and was buried, and his tomb is still here among us.But he was a prophet, and he knew God had promised with an oath that one of David’s own descendants would sit on his throne.David was looking into the future and speaking of the Messiah’s resurrection. He was saying that God would not leave him among the dead or allow his body to rot in the grave.“ God raised Jesus from the dead, and we are all witnesses of this.Now he is exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God’s right hand. And the Father, as he had promised, gave him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today.For David himself never ascended into heaven, yet he said,‘ The Lord said to my Lord,“ Sit in the place of honor at my right handuntil I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.”’“ So let everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah!”

Then Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, sent a message to Jeroboam, king of Israel:“ Amos is hatching a plot against you right here on your very doorstep! What he is saying is intolerable.

For some of the Jews killed the prophets, and some even killed the Lord Jesus. Now they have persecuted us, too. They fail to please God and work against all humanityas they try to keep us from preaching the Good News of salvation to the Gentiles. By doing this, they continue to pile up their sins. But the anger of God has caught up with them at last.

The others accepted his advice. They called in the apostles and had them flogged. Then they ordered them never again to speak in the name of Jesus, and they let them go.
