他去跟祭司長和守殿官商量怎樣把耶穌交給他們。

他們又煽動百姓、長老和文士，就突然來捉拿他，把他帶到議會去，

保羅看出他們一部分是撒都該人，一部分是法利賽人，就在議會中喊着：「諸位弟兄，我是法利賽人，也是法利賽人的子孫。我現在受審問是為有關死人復活的盼望。」說了這話，法利賽人和撒都該人爭論起來，會眾分為兩派。因為撒都該人一方面說沒有復活，另一方面沒有天使和鬼魂；法利賽人卻承認兩方面都有。於是大大地爭吵起來；有幾個法利賽派的文士站起來爭辯說：「我們看不出這人有甚麼錯處；說不定有鬼魂或者天使對他說過話呢！」

那天，撒都該人來見耶穌。他們說沒有復活這回事，於是問耶穌：「老師，摩西說：『某人若死了，沒有孩子，他弟弟該娶他的妻子，為哥哥生子立後。』

約翰看見許多法利賽人和撒都該人也來受洗，就對他們說：「毒蛇的孽種啊，誰指示你們逃避那將要來的憤怒呢？

於是守殿官和差役去帶使徒來，並沒有用暴力，因為怕百姓用石頭打他們。

守殿官和祭司長聽了這些話，心裏困惑，不知這事將來如何。

猶大領了一隊兵，以及祭司長和法利賽人的聖殿警衛，拿着燈籠、火把和兵器來到園裏。

祭司長和長老挑唆眾人，要求釋放巴拉巴，除掉耶穌。

你們要這樣做：在安息日值班的祭司和利未人，三分之一要把守各門，三分之一要在王宮，三分之一要在根基門；眾百姓都要在耶和華殿的院內。除了祭司和供職的利未人之外，不准別人進耶和華的殿；只有他們可以進去，因為他們是神聖的。眾百姓都要遵守耶和華所吩咐的。利未人要手中各拿兵器，四圍保護王；凡擅自進殿的，要被處死。王出入的時候，你們當跟隨他。」利未人和猶大眾人都照着耶何耶大祭司一切所吩咐的去做，各帶自己的人，無論安息日值班或不值班的都來，因為耶何耶大祭司不許他們下班。耶何耶大祭司就把神殿裏所藏大衛王的槍和大小盾牌交給百夫長，

神的道興旺起來；在耶路撒冷門徒數目增加得很多，也有許多祭司聽從了這信仰。

到了早晨，眾祭司長和百姓的長老商議要處死耶穌，就把他綁着，解去，交給彼拉多總督。

那時，祭司長和百姓的長老聚集在那稱為該亞法的大祭司的院裏。大家商議要設計捉拿耶穌，把他殺掉。

眾祭司長、文士和長老也同樣嘲笑他，說：

門徒這才明白他所說的不是要他們防備餅的酵，而是要防備法利賽人和撒都該人的教訓。

就打發他們的門徒同希律黨人去見耶穌，說：「老師，我們知道你是誠實的，並且誠誠實實傳神的道，無論誰你都一視同仁，因為你不看人的面子。

又有亞那大祭司、該亞法、約翰、亞歷山大，和大祭司的親族都在那裏。

你們要記得我對你們說過的話：『僕人不大於主人。』他們若迫害了我，也會迫害你們，他們若遵守了我的話，也會遵守你們的話。
