The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go.

The God of our fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, has done this. God has brought glory to Jesus, who serves him. But you handed Jesus over to be killed. Pilate had decided to let him go. But you spoke against Jesus when he was in Pilate’s court.

The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him.

For it is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob— the God of all our ancestors— who has brought glory to his servant Jesus by doing this. This is the same Jesus whom you handed over and rejected before Pilate, despite Pilate’s decision to release him.

Then he continued,“ I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at God.

I am the God of your ancestors— the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob. Moses began to tremble and did not dare to look.

After tying him up, they led him away and handed him over to Pilate, the governor.

By faith he stayed as a foreigner in the land of promise, living in tents as did Isaac and Jacob, coheirs of the same promise.For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.By faith even Sarah herself, when she was unable to have children, received power to conceive offspring, even though she was past the age, since she considered that the one who had promised was faithful.Therefore, from one man— in fact, from one as good as dead— came offspring as numerous as the stars of the sky and as innumerable as the grains of sand along the seashore.These all died in faith, although they had not received the things that were promised. But they saw them from a distance, greeted them, and confessed that they were foreigners and temporary residents on the earth.Now those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a homeland.If they were thinking about where they came from, they would have had an opportunity to return.But they now desire a better place— a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

Therefore, I will have him whipped and then release him.”

But the chief priests stirred up the crowd so that he would release Barabbas to them instead.

So when they had gathered together, Pilate said to them,“ Who is it you want me to release for you— Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?”For he knew it was because of envy that they had handed him over.While he was sitting on the judge’s bench, his wife sent word to him,“ Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for today I’ve suffered terribly in a dream because of him.”The chief priests and the elders, however, persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas and to execute Jesus.The governor asked them,“ Which of the two do you want me to release for you?”“ Barabbas!” they answered.Pilate asked them,“ What should I do then with Jesus, who is called Christ?” They all answered,“ Crucify him!”Then he said,“ Why? What has he done wrong?” But they kept shouting all the more,“ Crucify him!”When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that a riot was starting instead, he took some water, washed his hands in front of the crowd, and said,“ I am innocent of this man’s blood. See to it yourselves!”All the people answered,“ His blood be on us and on our children!”

Jesus spoke these things, looked up to heaven, and said,“ Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you,since you gave him authority over all people, so that he may give eternal life to everyone you have given him.This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent— Jesus Christ.I have glorified you on the earth by completing the work you gave me to do.Now, Father, glorify me in your presence with that glory I had with you before the world existed.

His disciples did not understand these things at first. However, when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and that they had done these things to him.

All things have been entrusted to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son desires to reveal him.

They will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked, flogged, and crucified, and on the third day he will be raised.”

The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hands.The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who rejects the Son will not see life; instead, the wrath of God remains on him.

The God of our ancestors raised up Jesus, whom you had murdered by hanging him on a tree.God exalted this man to his right hand as ruler and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

“ I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.”I will declare the LORD’s decree. He said to me,“ You are my Son; today I have become your Father.Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance and the ends of the earth your possession.You will break them with an iron scepter; you will shatter them like pottery.”So now, kings, be wise; receive instruction, you judges of the earth.Serve the LORD with reverential awe and rejoice with trembling.Pay homage to the Son or he will be angry and you will perish in your rebellion, for his anger may ignite at any moment. All who take refuge in him are happy.

and the Living One. I was dead, but look— I am alive forever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and Hades.

Therefore, since he has been exalted to the right hand of God and has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit, he has poured out what you both see and hear.For it was not David who ascended into the heavens, but he himself says: The Lord declared to my Lord,‘ Sit at my right handuntil I make your enemies your footstool.’“ Therefore let all the house of Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”

From that moment Pilate kept trying to release him. But the Jews shouted,“ If you release this man, you are not Caesar’s friend. Anyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar!”

He exercised this power in Christ by raising him from the dead and seating him at his right hand in the heavens—far above every ruler and authority, power and dominion, and every title given, not only in this age but also in the one to come.And he subjected everything under his feet and appointed him as head over everything for the church,which is his body, the fullness of the one who fills all things in every way.

and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has set us free from our sins by his blood,

Since the residents of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize him or the sayings of the prophets that are read every Sabbath, they have fulfilled their words by condemning him.Though they found no grounds for the death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him killed.

For this reason God highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name,so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow— in heaven and on earth and under the earth—and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

When he had left, Jesus said,“ Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in him.If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself and will glorify him at once.

The Father, in fact, judges no one but has given all judgment to the Son,so that all people may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.

you offspring of Abraham his servant, Jacob’s descendants— his chosen ones.He is the LORD our God; his judgments govern the whole earth.He remembers his covenant forever, the promise he ordained for a thousand generations—the covenant he made with Abraham, swore to Isaac,and confirmed to Jacob as a decree and to Israel as a permanent covenant:

They shouted back,“ Not this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a revolutionary.

He said this about the Spirit. Those who believed in Jesus were going to receive the Spirit, for the Spirit had not yet been given because Jesus had not yet been glorified.

Jesus came near and said to them,“ All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

But we do see Jesus— made lower than the angels for a short time so that by God’s grace he might taste death for everyone— crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death.

This is the declaration of the LORD to my Lord:“ Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.”The LORD will extend your mighty scepter from Zion. Rule over your surrounding enemies.

And he said,‘ The God of our ancestors has appointed you to know his will, to see the Righteous One, and to hear the words from his mouth,

Pilate then told the chief priests and the crowds,“ I find no grounds for charging this man.”

Though he was delivered up according to God’s determined plan and foreknowledge, you used lawless people to nail him to a cross and kill him.God raised him up, ending the pains of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by death.

He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.Everything the Father has is mine. This is why I told you that he takes from what is mine and will declare it to you.
