扫罗却残害教会，挨家挨户地进去，拉着男女关在监里。

凡听见的人都很惊奇，说：“在耶路撒冷残害求告这名的不就是这个人吗？他不是到这里来要捆绑他们，带到祭司长那里去吗？”

亚拿尼亚回答：“主啊，我听见许多人讲到这个人，说他怎样在耶路撒冷多多苦待你的圣徒，并且他在这里有从祭司长得来的权柄，要捆绑一切求告你名的人。”

我也曾迫害信奉这道路的人，置他们于死地，无论男女都捆绑，关在监里。这是大祭司和议会的众长老都可以给我作证的。我又从他们那里领了致弟兄们的书信，往大马士革去，要把在那里的信徒绑起来，带到耶路撒冷受刑。”

扫罗也赞同处死他。从那一天开始，耶路撒冷的教会遭受到大迫害，除了使徒以外，众门徒都分散在犹太和撒玛利亚各处。

彼得在众信徒中到处奔波的时候，也到了住在吕大的圣徒那里。

我原是使徒中最小的，不配称为使徒，因为我曾迫害过上帝的教会。

论到世上的圣民，他们是尊贵的人，是我最喜悦的。

奉上帝旨意作基督耶稣使徒的保罗，写信给在以弗所的众圣徒，就是在基督耶稣里忠心的人。

扫罗到了耶路撒冷，想与门徒结交，大家却都怕他，不信他是门徒。

我就说：‘主啊，他们都知道，我从前在各会堂里把信你的人监禁，又鞭打他们。当你的见证人司提反被害流血的时候，我也站在一旁赞同；又为打死他的人看守衣裳。’

你们听说过从前我在犹太教中的行径，我怎样竭力压迫残害上帝的教会。

但如今我要到耶路撒冷去，供应圣徒的需要。因为马其顿和亚该亚人乐意凑出一些捐款给耶路撒冷圣徒中的穷人。

彼得伸手扶她起来，叫那些圣徒和寡妇都进来，把多加活活地交给他们。

把他推到城外，用石头打他。作见证的人把他们的衣裳放在一个名叫扫罗的青年脚前。

我又看见那女人喝醉了圣徒的血和为耶稣作见证的人的血。我看见她，非常诧异。

扫罗不断用威吓凶悍的口气向主的门徒说话。他去见大祭司，要求发信给大马士革的各会堂，若是找着信奉这道的人，无论男女，都准他捆绑带到耶路撒冷。
