對此「新道、」予亦曾加以凌迫、無所不用其極、逮捕信男信女、下之於獄。此固司祭長與諸父老能為予作證者也。予且曾領彼等致眾兄弟之書、往大馬士革、欲將彼處奉此道者、縛解耶路撒冷處刑；

自此耶路撒冷教會受迫益甚；宗徒而外、盡散處猶太沙瑪里各地。

伯鐸祿周遊四方、及訪呂大聖徒、

予在宗徒中、為後生小子、實不堪稱為宗徒；以予曾窘辱聖教會故。

城中諸聖人。亦是我所親。同游聖教中。其樂何融融。

奉天主恩旨、而為基督耶穌宗徒者、葆樂、致書於伊法所信奉基督耶穌之諸聖徒曰：

掃羅既抵耶路撒冷、欲與門徒相交、眾皆懼之、不信其為門徒也。

予曰：「主乎、彼等詎不知予前曾將信主者置於獄中、又於各會堂中侮辱而鞭撻之；且主之證人司諦文遇害流血時、予亦在場、顧而樂之、並為兇手守衣焉。」主曰：「去！予將遣汝遠適異邦。」』

吾舊日在猶太教中之生活、固爾等所夙聞也。當時吾於天主之教會、迫辱摧殘、無所不用其極；

惟目前吾須先赴耶路撒冷一行、以賑濟諸聖徒。蓋馬其頓及亞該亞教友、自告奮勇、慷慨輸將、以助耶路撒冷之窮苦聖徒；

伯鐸祿扶之使立、乃召聖徒及諸嫠、以復生者歸之。

推之出城、以石擊之；為證者置其衣於一少年之足前、少年者掃羅也。

吾又見婦人已因暢飲眾聖及諸為耶穌致命者之血、而酩酊矣。吾對之不勝驚訝駭異之至。

時掃羅氣燄逼人、必欲誅滅主之門徒。乃謁大司祭、求行文大馬士革各會堂、遇有此道中人、不論男女、盡縛解耶路撒冷。
