扫罗却残害教会，逐家进去，连男带女拉去坐监。

听见的人都很惊奇，说：“在耶路撒冷残害求告这名的，不是这个人吗？他来这里不是要缉拿他们交给祭司长吗？”

但亚拿尼亚回答：“主啊，我听见许多人说起这个人，他在耶路撒冷作了许多苦害你圣徒的事；并且他在这里得到祭司长的授权，要捆绑所有求告你名的人。”

我曾经迫害信奉这道的人直至死地，把男男女女都捆绑起来，送进监狱，这是大祭司和全公议会都可以给我作证的。我也从他们那里得到了写给众弟兄的信，就去大马士革，要把那里的人捆绑起来，带到耶路撒冷接受惩罚。

司提反被害，扫罗也欣然同意。从那天起，耶路撒冷的教会大受迫害；除了使徒以外，所有的人都分散到犹太和撒玛利亚各地。

彼得周游各地的时候，也到了住在吕大的圣徒那里。

我原是使徒中最小的，本来没有资格称为使徒，因为我曾经迫害神的教会。

至于世上的圣民，他们都是尊贵荣美的人，全是我所喜爱的。

奉神旨意作基督耶稣使徒的保罗，写信给住在以弗所，在基督耶稣里忠心的圣徒。

扫罗到了耶路撒冷，想要接近门徒，但大家都怕他，不信他是个门徒。

我说：‘主啊，他们知道我曾把信你的人监禁起来，又在各会堂拷打他们，并且你的见证人司提反受害流血的时候，我也亲自在场，表示同意，并且为杀他的人看守衣服。’

你们听过我从前在犹太教中所行的：怎样极力逼迫残害神的教会，

不过，我现在为了供应圣徒的事要往耶路撒冷去；因为马其顿和亚该亚人乐意捐了一些钱，给耶路撒冷圣徒中的穷人。

彼得伸手扶她起来，叫圣徒们和寡妇都进来，把多加活活地交给他们。

把他推出城外，用石头打他。那些证人把自己的衣服，放在一个名叫扫罗的青年人脚前。

我又看见那妇人喝圣徒的血，和那为耶稣作见证的人的血，喝醉了。我看见了她，就大大惊奇。

扫罗仍向主的门徒发恐吓凶杀的话。他到大祭司那里，要求他发公函给大马士革各会堂，如果发现奉行这道的人，准他连男带女缉拿到耶路撒冷。
