I have a hope in God( a hope that these men themselves accept too) that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

From morning until evening he explained things to them, testifying about the kingdom of God and trying to convince them about Jesus from both the law of Moses and the prophets.Some were convinced by what he said, but others refused to believe.So they began to leave, unable to agree among themselves, after Paul made one last statement:“ The Holy Spirit spoke rightly to your ancestors through the prophet Isaiahwhen he said,‘ Go to this people and say,“ You will keep on hearing, but will never understand, and you will keep on looking, but will never perceive.For the heart of this people has become dull, and their ears are hard of hearing, and they have closed their eyes, so that they would not see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.”’“ Therefore be advised that this salvation from God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen!”

Now as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God,‘ I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living!”

Then when Paul noticed that part of them were Sadducees and the others Pharisees, he shouted out in the council,“ Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. I am on trial concerning the hope of the resurrection of the dead!”When he said this, an argument began between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided.( For the Sadducees say there is no resurrection, or angel, or spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.)

Now if Christ is being preached as raised from the dead, how can some of you say there is no resurrection of the dead?But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised.And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is futile and your faith is empty.Also, we are found to be false witnesses about God, because we have testified against God that he raised Christ from the dead, when in reality he did not raise him, if indeed the dead are not raised.For if the dead are not raised, then not even Christ has been raised.And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is useless; you are still in your sins.Furthermore, those who have fallen asleep in Christ have also perished.For if only in this life we have hope in Christ, we should be pitied more than anyone.But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead also came through a man.For just as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.But each in his own order: Christ, the firstfruits; then when Christ comes, those who belong to him.Then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father, when he has brought to an end all rule and all authority and power.For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.The last enemy to be eliminated is death.For he has put everything in subjection under his feet. But when it says“ everything” has been put in subjection, it is clear that this does not include the one who put everything in subjection to him.

other than this one thing I shouted out while I stood before them:‘ I am on trial before you today concerning the resurrection of the dead.’”

And now I stand here on trial because of my hope in the promise made by God to our ancestors,a promise that our twelve tribes hope to attain as they earnestly serve God night and day. Concerning this hope the Jews are accusing me, Your Majesty!
