as the high priest and all the Council can themselves testify. I even obtained letters from them to their associates in Damascus, and went there to bring these people as prisoners to Jerusalem to be punished.

天一亮，民間的長老會，連祭司長帶經學士都聚集，把耶穌帶走、到他們的議院裏，說：

但是掃羅，仍然向主的門徒噴吐恐嚇和兇殺的口氣。他上去見大祭司，向他求文書給大馬色各會堂，好使他、若找着了甚麼人信奉這道路，無論男女、都可以捆住，帶到耶路撒冷。

他們聽了這話，天未亮就進殿去教訓人。大祭司和同着他的人就來，叫齊了議院和以色列人的全體耆老，差遣人到監獄裏，要把使徒提出來。

別輕忽在你身上屬靈的恩賜了；這恩賜是從前藉着神言之傳講、連同長老會之按手所賜給你的。

『同人弟兄們，亞伯拉罕家族的子孫、和你們中間敬畏上帝的人哪，這個拯救之道是已傳送出來給予我們的。

到第二天、民間的議員、長老和經學士、就在耶路撒冷聚集。

眾人就對保羅說：『我們呢、也沒有從猶太接到關於你的文書，也沒有弟兄來報告、或說起你有甚麼惡處。

為我弟兄、我骨肉之親、我巴不得被革除、和基督隔絕呢！他們是以色列人，有被立為子的名分，有上帝之榮現，有諸約，有律法之制定，有事奉的聖禮，有諸應許：都是他們的；

又在這裏執有從祭司長們得來的權柄，要捆綁一切呼求你名的人。』

這件事、我在耶路撒冷居然作了。是我，我不但從祭司長得了權柄、把許多聖徒關在監裏；而且他們被殺掉，我還投票控告呢。

『在作這些事的時候、我帶着祭司長的權柄和使命、往大馬色去。

『同人、弟兄、父老們，請聽我如今對你們所分訴的。』
