I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my nation, and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my ancestors.

For I can testify that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not in line with the truth.

“ I am a Jew, born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city, educated with strictness under Gamaliel according to the law of our ancestors, and was zealous for God just as all of you are today.

Now some men came down from Judea and began to teach the brothers,“ Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”

But some from the religious party of the Pharisees who had believed stood up and said,“ It is necessary to circumcise the Gentiles and to order them to observe the law of Moses.”

When they heard this, they ceased their objections and praised God, saying,“ So then, God has granted the repentance that leads to life even to the Gentiles.”

Sing to the LORD a new song, for he performs amazing deeds! His right hand and his mighty arm accomplish deliverance.The LORD demonstrates his power to deliver; in the sight of the nations he reveals his justice.He remains loyal and faithful to the family of Israel. All the ends of the earth see our God deliver us.

when he comes to be glorified among his saints and admired on that day among all who have believed– and you did in fact believe our testimony.

So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand people were added.

After threatening them further, they released them, for they could not find how to punish them on account of the people, because they were all praising God for what had happened.

But many of those who had listened to the message believed, and the number of the men came to about five thousand.

The word of God continued to spread, the number of disciples in Jerusalem increased greatly, and a large group of priests became obedient to the faith.

You loyal followers of the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! All you descendants of Israel, stand in awe of him!

So Jesus told them this parable:“ Which one of you, if he has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, would not leave the ninety- nine in the open pasture and go look for the one that is lost until he finds it?Then when he has found it, he places it on his shoulders, rejoicing.Returning home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, telling them,‘ Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost.’I tell you, in the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety- nine righteous people who have no need to repent.“ Or what woman, if she has ten silver coins and loses one of them, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search thoroughly until she finds it?Then when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying,‘ Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.’In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who repents.”

The rain and snow fall from the sky and do not return, but instead water the earth and make it produce and yield crops, and provide seed for the planter and food for those who must eat.In the same way, the promise that I make does not return to me, having accomplished nothing. No, it is realized as I desire and is fulfilled as I intend.”Indeed you will go out with joy; you will be led along in peace; the mountains and hills will give a joyful shout before you, and all the trees in the field will clap their hands.Evergreens will grow in place of thorn bushes, firs will grow in place of nettles; they will be a monument to the LORD, a permanent reminder that will remain.

I tell you the solemn truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it produces much grain.

Since we have heard that some have gone out from among us with no orders from us and have confused you, upsetting your minds by what they said,

so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.Receive one another, then, just as Christ also received you, to God’s glory.

Let all the people of the earth acknowledge the LORD and turn to him! Let all the nations worship you!

May his fame endure! May his dynasty last as long as the sun remains in the sky! May they use his name when they formulate their blessings! May all nations consider him to be favored by God!The LORD God, the God of Israel, deserves praise! He alone accomplishes amazing things!His glorious name deserves praise forevermore! May his majestic splendor fill the whole earth! We agree! We agree!

“ Do I bring a baby to the birth opening and then not deliver it?” asks the LORD.“ Or do I bring a baby to the point of delivery and then hold it back?” asks your God.Be happy for Jerusalem and rejoice with her, all you who love her! Share in her great joy, all you who have mourned over her!For you will nurse from her satisfying breasts and be nourished; you will feed with joy from her milk-filled breasts.For this is what the LORD says:“ Look, I am ready to extend to her prosperity that will flow like a river, the riches of nations will flow into her like a stream that floods its banks. You will nurse from her breast and be carried at her side; you will play on her knees.As a mother consoles a child, so I will console you, and you will be consoled over Jerusalem.”When you see this, you will be happy, and you will be revived. The LORD will reveal his power to his servants and his anger to his enemies.

It was appropriate to celebrate and be glad, for your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost and is found.’”

He gave them another parable:“ The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field.It is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest garden plant and becomes a tree, so that the wild birds come and nest in its branches.”He told them another parable:“ The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed with three measures of flour until all the dough had risen.”

Meanwhile, when many thousands of the crowd had gathered so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus began to speak first to his disciples,“ Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

and thus the Gentiles glorify God for his mercy. As it is written,“ Because of this I will confess you among the Gentiles, and I will sing praises to your name.”And again it says:“ Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people.”And again,“ Praise the Lord all you Gentiles, and let all the peoples praise him.”And again Isaiah says,“ The root of Jesse will come, and the one who rises to rule over the Gentiles, in him will the Gentiles hope.”Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in him, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Then I heard what sounded like the voice of a vast throng, like the roar of many waters and like loud crashes of thunder. They were shouting:“ Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the All- Powerful, reigns!Let us rejoice and exult and give him glory, because the wedding celebration of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.

So they glorified God because of me.
