Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell solitarily[ in] the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed[ in] Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another[ divers] kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon,[ son] of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:But I keep under my body, and bring[ it] into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.[ Are] all apostles?[ are] all prophets?[ are] all teachers?[ are] all workers of miracles?Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:From following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.

For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

Remember thy congregation,[ which] thou hast purchased of old; the rod of thine inheritance,[ which] thou hast redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.

And thou Bethlehem,[ in] the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where[ is] the flock[ that] was given thee, thy beautiful flock?

Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed:[ but] ye feed not the flock.

Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put[ him] to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see[ his] seed, he shall prolong[ his] days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.He shall see of the travail of his soul,[ and] shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.Therefore will I divide him[ a portion] with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

And said to the judges, Take heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for the LORD, who[ is] with you in the judgment.Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do[ it]: for[ there is] no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.

And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it.

But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for[ your] pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD’S flock is carried away captive.

Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Thus saith the LORD my God; Feed the flock of the slaughter;

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and[ so] that day come upon you unawares.

Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble[ you], and thereby many be defiled;

For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.

And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture,[ are] men,[ and] I[ am] your God, saith the Lord GOD.

And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.

Then he remembered the days of old, Moses,[ and] his people,[ saying], Where[ is] he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where[ is] he that put his holy Spirit within him?

Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption[ for us].For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise[ you] not.

Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest[ thy flock] to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, and feed thy kids beside the shepherds’ tents.

Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare[ it] in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd[ doth] his flock.
