When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles,“ Brothers, what shall we do?”

When the people heard this, it had a deep effect on them. They said to Peter and the other apostles,“ Brothers, what should we do?”

Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles,“ Brothers, what should we do?”

眾問曰：『然則如之何而可？』

引葆樂西拉出曰：『先生、吾當如何、始可望救？』曰：『能信奉主耶穌、則爾舉家當蒙救恩。』乃以主道示之、及其家人。

彼既來、必有以令世知罪、知義、知判。知罪者、以若輩不予信也；知義者、以予歸父而爾不復睹予也；知判者、以斯世之君已受判也。

予曰：「主乎、予當何為？」主曰：「起、入大馬士革、將告汝以所當為。」

我生之初尚無法、誡命一至、罪於是乎生、而我於是乎死矣。

若輩聞言、自老及幼、一一次第引退、惟留耶穌與婦人立於眾人之前。

若同人共作預言、即來一不信或無術之人、亦將為爾眾所感化為爾眾所詰究、自覺心中隱念、昭然若揭、則必俯伏而頂禮天主、且自承天主之實與爾偕矣。

眾聞是語對司諦文痛心疾首、忿恚滋甚。

軍士亦問曰：『吾儕如何？』曰：『毋凌人！毋誣人！安於餉。』

葆樂為之講述正義、貞節、及未來之審判。裴力斯恐懼曰：『汝今且去、有暇當再邀汝。』裴力斯又望葆樂予以賄賂、故屢邀彼至、與之周旋。

稅吏至、欲受洗、曰：『夫子、吾當何為？』

曰：『主、爾何人？』主曰：『受迫耶穌。爾且起、入城、當示爾所當為。』

蓋天主之道、活潑靈通、利於雙刃之劍、刺透魂魄、徹入骨髓、且能燭幽洞微、即心中一念之萌、一意之起、靡有不察、凡屬受造之物、莫不在天主明鑒之下、腑肺盡露；吾人皆向渠負責、固無所逃於天地間也。

公會同人聞言皆怒、意欲殺之；

『兄弟乎！聖神假大維之口、預言茹達斯引捕耶穌、此經已見應驗；
