In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.

In the past, God didn’t judge people for what they didn’t know. But now he commands all people everywhere to turn away from their sins.

“ God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him.

“ Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God now commands all people everywhere to repent,

So having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now proclaiming to mankind that all people everywhere are to repent,

Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,

The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked; but now he commandeth men that they should all everywhere repent:

In past generations he allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways.

and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,

whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.

For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry.

Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds.They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart.They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity.But that is not the way you learned Christ!—assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus,to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires,and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,and give no opportunity to the devil.Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

delivering you from your people and from the Gentiles— to whom I am sending youto open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’“ Therefore, O King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,but declared first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all the region of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds in keeping with their repentance.

Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?

and saying,“ The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.Therefore do not become partners with them;for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

So they went out and proclaimed that people should repent.

When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying,“ Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.”

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out,

For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription:‘ To the unknown god.’ What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you.

Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

“ Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.

No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance,but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,

These things you have done, and I have been silent; you thought that I was one like yourself. But now I rebuke you and lay the charge before you.

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying,“ Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
