爾以何物譬予、與我相比儗哉。人傾囊、出其金銀、權其輕重、以畀工人、俾鑄上帝像、俯伏崇拜、

掬掌以承滄海、布指以度穹蒼、斗量坤輿、權衡山嶽、孰能為之哉。孰啟耶和華之心、與彼共議、誰為其師、訓以智慧、使鞫是非。其視列國之民、若滴水滲於器外、若微塵留于衡上、其移海島、若徙草芥。民欲獻祭、即以利巴嫩林為柴、以百獸為燔、亦不足數。萬國在上帝前、曠然無物、悉屬虛浮、爾曹以何物比儗上帝、以何像像之、工塑偶像、飾以金箔、垂以銀鏈、惟彼貧乏、無寶堪獻、遴選堅木、而僱巧工、俾作木偶、歷久不壞。

亞倫受之、鎔鑄其金、刀刻為犢、有稱之者曰、以色列族乎、導爾出埃及之上帝、即此。

自開闢以來、上帝之永能性體、目不及見、惟其所造之物、可睹而知、故人未由推諉、顧彼既知上帝、猶不以上帝尊之謝之、乃志意虛妄、心頑蒙昧、自稱為智、適成愚魯、不崇永生上帝之榮、反拜速朽世人禽獸昆蟲之像、

昔歸榮上帝、今則不然、拜跪犢像、犢惟嚙蒭兮、

以金銀飾之、以鎚釘之、使不搖動、屹立若柱、不能言、不能行、藉人肩負、彰癉不加、爾勿畏之。惟爾耶和華、至大至能、莫之與京。爾惟憶兆之大君、盡人當敬、孰不畏爾、列國諸聖者、不得與爾頡頏。崇拜偶像、愚蠢孰甚、欲知其妄、以木為證。擣銀使薄、至自大失、金自烏法、冶人鎔之、匠人製之、紫赤之布為衣、良工織之。惟耶和華真上帝、永生為王、彼赫斯怒、則大地震動、彼發厥憤、則億兆不安。

作偶像者、悉為虛妄、其所慕者無益、彼明知其不見不聞、當生愧怍。誰鑄無益之偶像、以像上帝哉、豈非人乎、宜其同儔、咸生愧赧、使彼聚會、屹立於此、必令其戰慄不勝、慙恧無地。鐵工作斧、炭以煆之、鎚以治之、竭一臂之力、使之成器、若其不飲不食、氣力俱廢。木工用準繩、循規矩、運其利器、作人之形、窮極華美、置之於室、伐柏香木以及橡櫟、此皆木之堅者、亦植杉樹、得雨露之養、人取為柴、燃之可以暖體、可以烘餅、復作上帝像、俯伏而拜。材木之半、焚之可以備餚、可以炙肉、食之果腹、向火得暖、人樂以觀火。更有餘木、以製偶像、以像上帝、俯伏而拜、禱曰、誠我上帝、爾其救予、維彼不識不知、其目若塗以泥、其心不明、孰能深思其故、奮然儆醒曰、材木之半、焚之可以烘餅炙肉、而供口腹、則其餘材、豈可作像、拜此可憎之榾柮。彼心昏迷、所望成空、若食燼餘而不悟、不知右手所作、悉屬虛妄。

自謂雅各之上帝耶和華、必不鑒察兮、愚蠢之人、懵然無知、何日明此理兮、豈有造人耳目、而己反不能見聞兮、
