於是全城的人都被煽動了，民眾一起跑來，抓住保羅，把他拖出聖殿，殿門立刻關上了。

但你們卻侮辱了這貧窮人！那欺壓你們、把你們拉上法庭的，難道不是那些富有的人嗎？

有一次，我們往禱告的地方去，迎面來了一個有占卜邪靈附身的女僕。她用算命為她的主人們帶來大量的生意。

可是找不到他們，就把耶森和幾位弟兄拉到地方官們那裡，喊叫說：「這些攪亂天下的，也來到這裡，

掃羅卻摧殘教會，闖進各家各戶，無論男女都拉去關進監獄。

在鞭打、監禁、混亂中，在勞苦、失眠、飢餓中，

那時，外邦人和猶太人，與他們的首領們一同企圖凌辱使徒們，要用石頭砸死他們。

原來，有一個名叫迪米特斯的銀匠，是製造阿蒂米絲女神銀龕的，給工匠們帶來不少的生意。迪米特斯召集了他們，以及周圍同行的工人，說：「各位，你們知道，我們是由這生意發財的。可是你們看見了也聽見了，這個保羅不僅在以弗所也幾乎在全亞細亞省，說服、引誘了一大群人，說『人手所造的不是神』。這樣，不僅我們這行業有被輕蔑的危險，連偉大女神阿蒂米絲的廟也要被看為什麼都不是，並且這受全亞細亞省和普天下敬拜的女神的威榮，也要被毀滅了。」

「那時，他們將要出賣你們，使你們受患難，甚至殺害你們。為了我的名，你們將被萬民憎恨。

要知道，貪愛金錢是萬惡之根；有些人戀慕金錢，就被迷惑而離開了信仰，用很多苦痛把自己刺透了。

「你們自己要當心。他們將要把你們送交議會；你們會在會堂裡受鞭打。為我的緣故，你們將站在總督和君王面前，好對他們做見證。

當時，使徒們、長老們和全教會都認為應該從他們當中揀選幾個人，派他們與保羅和巴拿巴一起到安提阿去。被選的是那稱為巴撒巴的猶大和賽拉斯，這兩個人在弟兄中是領頭的。

我要指示他，為了我的名他必須受多大的苦害。」

伽利奧任亞該亞省長的時候，猶太人一致起來攻擊保羅，把他帶到審判臺前，說：「他煽動人不按律法敬拜神。」

「看哪，我差派你們出去，就像把羊送進狼群中，所以你們要像蛇那樣聰明，像鴿子那樣純潔。你們要提防人們，因為他們將要把你們送交議會，並且在他們的會堂裡鞭打你們。為我的緣故，你們將被帶到總督和君王面前，好對他們和外邦人做見證。

這兩個人都為我們主耶穌基督的名，已經把自己的生命置之度外。

但有些猶太人從安提阿和以哥念來到，挑唆眾人，用石頭砸了保羅。他們以為他已經死了，就把他拖到城外。
