有一个出生在塞浦路斯的利未人约瑟，使徒们称他为巴拿巴——“巴拿巴”翻译出来就是“安慰之子”；

实际上，我们每一个人在很多事上都会跌倒。如果有人在言语上不跌倒，这个人就是一个成熟的人，也能够克制全身。

世上实在没有一个行善而不犯罪的义人。

事实上，我知道在我里面，就是在我肉体中，没有良善；因为行善的意愿在我里面，却行不出来。这样，我愿意行的善，我没有去行；我不愿意做的恶，我反而去做。那么，如果我做我不愿意做的事，这事就不再是我所做的，而是住在我里面的罪所做的。因此我发现一个法则：当我愿意行善的时候，恶就在我里面。

这样，他们两个人受圣灵的差遣，就下到塞琉西亚，又从那里坐船前往塞浦路斯岛，到了萨拉米斯，就在犹太人的各会堂里传讲神的话语。他们也有约翰马可做助理。他们走遍全岛，直到帕福斯，遇见了一个名叫巴耶苏的犹太人，是个行法术的假先知。他和省长瑟吉乌斯保罗常在一起。省长是一个明智的人，他请了巴拿巴和扫罗来，要求听神的话语。但那行法术的以路摩——他的名字翻译出来就是“行法术的”——却抵挡他们，企图使省长转离这信仰。可是扫罗，也就是保罗，被圣灵充满，注视着以路摩，说：“哦，你这个充满一切诡诈、一切奸恶的人哪！魔鬼的儿子，一切公义的仇敌！你歪曲主的正道，还不停止吗？看哪，现在主的手临到你，你要瞎眼，暂时看不见日光。”立刻，迷雾和黑暗笼罩了他，他四处摸索，求人牵手领路。省长当时看见所发生的事，对主的教导惊叹不已，就信了。

但其中有一些塞浦路斯人和古利奈人，来到安提阿，也向希腊人讲道，传主耶稣的福音。

在那些日子里，门徒增多。说希腊语的犹太人抱怨那些说希伯来语的犹太人，因为他们的寡妇在每日的服事上被忽略了。

保罗、巴拿巴与他们发生了不小的争执和辩论，他们就指定保罗、巴拿巴和其中的另一些人为这争议的问题，上耶路撒冷到使徒们和长老们那里去。

我们从那里起航，因为逆风，就沿着塞浦路斯岛的背风岸航行。

我看见一切完美的事都有尽头，唯有你的诫命极其宽阔。

因为他们悖逆了神的灵，摩西的嘴就说了轻率的话。
