第遺書戒之、勿犯姦淫、勿食祭餘之物、勒死之牲、與牲畜之血。

至異邦信主者、吾人亦已遺書、命勿食祭像之物、牲畜之血、及勒死之牲、且勿犯姦淫。』

曷一觀義塞同族人之所為乎：若輩共食祭物者、非即同一祭壇之人乎。然則何如？豈謂祭肉足以浼我乎？抑吾目中尚有偶像其物乎？非也！然外教人所祭獻之物、乃獻於魔鬼、而非獻於天主也。吾固不願爾等之與魔鬼有所共享也。

惟吾對爾亦略有未滿；蓋爾中有少數人、服膺巴拉盎之邪道；巴拉盎者、即昔日教唆巴拉可置躓石於義塞子孫之前、令食祭像之物、且誘其行淫者也。

吾所不滿於爾者、以爾優容彼婦葉撒伯爾也。該婦自稱女先知、而以邪道熒惑吾之諸僕、誘其行淫、且食祭像之物。

總之、吾望兄弟皆能怡怡欣欣、灑然而樂、互相淬礪切磋、俾爾成為完人。更望同心一德、相親相愛；則仁愛和平之天主、必與爾俱矣。

豈可為食物之細故、而破壞天主之妙工。凡物皆淨、固矣；然若以爾之食、為厲之階、凶莫甚焉！孰若不食肉不飲酒、以免滋人疑惑之為愈乎。

自天主聖父視之、純潔無瑕之虔誠、亦曰矜孤恤寡、濟弱扶傾、與夫守身如玉、涅而不緇而已矣。

我本人與主耶穌默契、深信天下本無不淨之物。惟人如視任何物為不淨、則斯物之於斯人也、誠為不淨矣。倘爾以食物細故、而貽兄弟以無謂之疑慮、則爾不復以仁愛之道而行矣。夫基督不惜為彼而死、爾乃以爾之食物致彼於死、毋乃不可乎。

覆手之禮、不可輕率行之、庶免同承其咎。務須守身如玉、涅而不緇。

惟天主我等救主能保佑爾曹、不致失足、庇爾於其光榮之下、使爾毫無瑕疵、神樂洋溢。

前次吾在爾處、雖甚貧乏、亦未曾有累於爾、一惟仰給於來自馬其頓之兄弟。蓋吾在在以相累為戒、過去如此、今後亦當如此。

願我愛友、黽勉自勵；於爾神聖之信仰上、好自建立；常憑聖神之默感、以祈以禱；庶克長遊於天主聖愛之中、而望我主耶穌基督加以慈惠、賜以常生。
