Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood.

Here is what we should write to them. They must not eat food that has been made impure by being offered to statues of gods. They must not commit sexual sins. They must not eat the meat of animals that have been choked to death. And they must not drink blood.

‘ This shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your dwellings: you shall eat neither fat nor blood.’”

But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.

Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.

But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.

But concerning the Gentiles who believe, we have written and decided that they should observe no such thing, except that they should keep themselves from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality.”

Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth( as there are many gods and many lords),yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.However, there is not in everyone that knowledge; for some, with consciousness of the idol, until now eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.But food does not commend us to God; for neither if we eat are we the better, nor if we do not eat are we the worse.But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to those who are weak.For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol’s temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things offered to idols?And because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.

Only you shall not eat the blood; you shall pour it on the earth like water.

But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk.

So I said,“ Ah, Lord GOD! Indeed I have never defiled myself from my youth till now; I have never eaten what died of itself or was torn by beasts, nor has abominable flesh ever come into my mouth.”

‘ And whatever man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, who eats any blood, I will set My face against that person who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people.For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’Therefore I said to the children of Israel,‘ No one among you shall eat blood, nor shall any stranger who dwells among you eat blood.’“ Whatever man of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, who hunts and catches any animal or bird that may be eaten, he shall pour out its blood and cover it with dust;for it is the life of all flesh. Its blood sustains its life. Therefore I said to the children of Israel,‘ You shall not eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.’

Now concerning things offered to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.

lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they play the harlot with their gods and make sacrifice to their gods, and one of them invites you and you eat of his sacrifice,and you take of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters play the harlot with their gods and make your sons play the harlot with their gods.

Only you shall not eat its blood; you shall pour it on the ground like water.

And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written,“ The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.”Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell;

For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles— when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries.

Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,

“ Therefore say to them,‘ Thus says the Lord God:“ You eat meat with blood, you lift up your eyes toward your idols, and shed blood. Should you then possess the land?

They even sacrificed their sons And their daughters to demons,And shed innocent blood, The blood of their sons and daughters, Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the land was polluted with blood.Thus they were defiled by their own works, And played the harlot by their own deeds.

They invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods.

Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

You shall not make anything to be with Me— gods of silver or gods of gold you shall not make for yourselves.

And the people rushed on the spoil, and took sheep, oxen, and calves, and slaughtered them on the ground; and the people ate them with the blood.

lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and I shall mourn for many who have sinned before and have not repented of the uncleanness, fornication, and lewdness which they have practiced.

And Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him,“ Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, and change your garments.

But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner— not even to eat with such a person.

lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright.

“ Speak to the children of Israel, saying:‘ You shall not eat any fat, of ox or sheep or goat.And the fat of an animal that dies naturally, and the fat of what is torn by wild beasts, may be used in any other way; but you shall by no means eat it.For whoever eats the fat of the animal of which men offer an offering made by fire to the Lord, the person who eats it shall be cut off from his people.Moreover you shall not eat any blood in any of your dwellings, whether of bird or beast.Whoever eats any blood, that person shall be cut off from his people.’”

Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.I speak as to wise men; judge for yourselves what I say.The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread.Observe Israel after the flesh: Are not those who eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?What am I saying then? That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything?Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons.You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons.Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s well-being.Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no questions for conscience’ sake;for“ the earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness.”If any of those who do not believe invites you to dinner, and you desire to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no question for conscience’ sake.But if anyone says to you,“ This was offered to idols,” do not eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for conscience’ sake; for“ the earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness.”

Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving;for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

Only be sure that you do not eat the blood, for the blood is the life; you may not eat the life with the meat.You shall not eat it; you shall pour it on the earth like water.You shall not eat it, that it may go well with you and your children after you, when you do what is right in the sight of the Lord.

For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality;

Therefore say to the house of Israel,‘ Thus says the Lord GOD:“ Are you defiling yourselves in the manner of your fathers, and committing harlotry according to their abominations?For when you offer your gifts and make your sons pass through the fire, you defile yourselves with all your idols, even to this day. So shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live,” says the Lord GOD,“ I will not be inquired of by you.

But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;

He had a little book open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land,

Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

“ You shall not eat anything that dies of itself; you may give it to the alien who is within your gates, that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner; for you are a holy people to the Lord your God.“ You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.
