於是使徒長老同全教會就定意要從他們中間揀選人；所選的是：那稱巴撒巴的猶大和西拉、在弟兄中做領袖的人，差他們同保羅巴拿巴往安提阿去，寫信、經他們手帶去，說：『做使徒和長老的弟兄們、給在安提阿、敍利亞、基利家一帶外國中的弟兄們請安。

使徒和長老聚集，要看看這件事要怎麼辦理。經過了許多辯論，彼得就站起來，對他們說：『同人弟兄們，你們知道、從早先的日子、上帝在你們中間就施行了揀選，使外國人藉着我的口得聽福音之道而相信。

到了耶路撒冷，他們受教會、使徒和長老的接待，就報告上帝同他們所行的一切事。

這件事他們真地實行了，由巴拿巴掃羅經手，送到長老那裏。

後來過了十四年，我再上耶路撒冷，有巴拿巴一同去，也帶着提多同行。是順從啓示上去的。我將我在外國人中間所宣傳的福音對他們陳述，對那些有名望的人、私下裏陳述，惟恐我現在或從前所奔跑的都落了空。

我對眾人雖然自由，卻讓自己做了眾人的僕人，為要贏得更多的人。向猶太人我就成了猶太人，為要贏得猶太人；向律法以下的人、我自己雖不在律法之下，還做律法以下的人，為要贏得律法以下的人。向律法以外的人、我對上帝雖在律法以外，對基督卻在律法以內，我還做律法以外的人，為要贏得律法以外的人。向軟弱的人、我就成了軟弱的人，為要贏得軟弱的人：向各種人、我就成了各種人，為要用各種法子拯救些人。我為福音的緣故、行了各樣的事，為要在這事上一同有分。

我真驚奇，你們這麼輕易地離棄了那以恩召了你們的，去投附別的福音。其實並不是另一個福音，不過有些人攪亂你們，想要轉變基督的福音罷了。但是、雖即是我們、或是從天上來的使者、若傳福音、跟我們所傳給你們的不同，他該被革除！我們已經說過，現在我再說，若有人傳福音給你們，跟你們所領受過的不同，他該被革除！我現在是要對人要好麼？還是要對上帝？或是要想法子討人喜歡麼？若是還要討人喜歡，我就不是基督的僕人了。

所以我在基督裏雖有膽量能把合宜作的事吩咐你，然而為了愛心的緣故、我寧可求，我、像我這上了年紀的保羅、如今又做了基督耶穌囚犯的、

使徒經過那些城，把耶路撒冷的使徒和長老所決定的規例、交給門徒遵守。

我們就差遣猶大和西拉，他們要親口報告同樣的事。

靈告訴我要和他們一同去。還有這六位弟兄也和我一同去；我們就進入那人家裏。

你若這樣行，上帝也這樣吩咐你，你就能站得住，這眾民也就能夠安安然然回到他們的地方去。』

不過我想我絲毫也沒有趕不上那些超等的「使徒」。

我們就同心合意、定意揀選人，差他們、同我們親愛的巴拿巴和保羅、去見你們；

彼得便請他們進去，款待他們。第二天彼得就起身，和他們一同出發，還有屬約帕的幾個弟兄和他一同去。

親愛的，我很熱切地給你們寫信、論到我們所共有的救恩，就覺得必須給你們寫點兒來勸你們要為着儘一次傳授給聖徒們的信仰而奮力鬥勝。

翌日，保羅同我們進去見雅各；眾長老也都在那裏。

對這些人、我們連一刻工夫也沒有以順服的態度容讓他們，為要使福音的真理長存在你們中間。

永恆主對撒母耳說：『關於人民向你說的一切話你只管依從，因為他們不是棄絕你，乃是棄絕了我作王來管理他們。
