Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the believers:“ Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.”

Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch. Here is what they were teaching the believers.“ Moses commanded you to be circumcised,” they said.“ If you aren’t, you can’t be saved.”

But some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brothers,“ Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”

While Paul and Barnabas were at Antioch of Syria, some men from Judea arrived and began to teach the believers:“ Unless you are circumcised as required by the law of Moses, you cannot be saved.”

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love.

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.Look! I, Paul, tell you that if you have yourselves circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you.And I testify again to every man who has himself circumcised, that he is obligated to keep the whole Law.You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by the Law; you have fallen from grace.

Since we have heard that some of our number to whom we gave no instruction have confused you by their teaching, upsetting your souls,

Then on the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

Was any man called when he was already circumcised? He is not to become uncircumcised. Has anyone been called in uncircumcision? He is not to be circumcised.Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is the keeping of the commandments of God.

But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.For prior to the coming of some men from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he began to withdraw and separate himself, fearing those from the circumcision.The rest of the Jews joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy.But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in the presence of all,“ If you, being a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how is it that you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?

For those who are circumcised do not even keep the Law themselves, but they want to have you circumcised so that they may boast in your flesh.But far be it from me to boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.And all who will follow this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.

for we have heard him say that this Nazarene, Jesus, will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses handed down to us.”

and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision performed without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ,having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas: Judas who was called Barsabbas, and Silas, leading men among the brothers,

See to it that there is no one who takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception in accordance with human tradition, in accordance with the elementary principles of the world, rather than in accordance with Christ.

But not even Titus, who was with me, though he was a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.Yet it was a concern because of the false brothers secretly brought in, who had sneaked in to spy on our freedom which we have in Christ Jesus, in order to enslave us.

Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision;for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and take pride in Christ Jesus, and put no confidence in the flesh,

This is My covenant, which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: every male among you shall be circumcised.And you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall be the sign of the covenant between Me and you.And every male among you who is eight days old shall be circumcised throughout your generations, including a slave who is born in the house or who is bought with money from any foreigner, who is not of your descendants.A slave who is born in your house or who is bought with your money shall certainly be circumcised; so My covenant shall be in your flesh as an everlasting covenant.But as for an uncircumcised male, one who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant.”Then God said to Abraham,“ As for your wife Sarai, you shall not call her by the name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.I will bless her, and indeed I will give you a son by her. Then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.”Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart,“ Will a child be born to a man a hundred years old? And will Sarah, who is ninety years old, give birth to a child?”And Abraham said to God,“ Oh that Ishmael might live before You!”But God said,“ No, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you shall name him Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I will bless him, and make him fruitful and multiply him exceedingly. He shall father twelve princes, and I will make him into a great nation.But I will establish My covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this season next year.”When He finished talking with him, God went up from Abraham.Then Abraham took his son Ishmael, and all the slaves who were born in his house and all who were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham’s household, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin on this very same day, as God had said to him.Now Abraham was ninety nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.And his son Ishmael was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.On this very same day Abraham was circumcised, as well as his son Ishmael.And all the men of his household, those who were born in the house or bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.

Then after an interval of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along also.

Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account.”Is this blessing then on the circumcised, or on the uncircumcised also? For we say,“ Faith was credited to Abraham as righteousness.”How then was it credited? While he was circumcised, or uncircumcised? Not while circumcised, but while uncircumcised;and he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while uncircumcised, so that he might be the father of all who believe without being circumcised, that righteousness might be credited to them,and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also follow in the steps of the faith of our father Abraham which he had while uncircumcised.

Therefore, after being sent on their way by the church, they were passing through both Phoenicia and Samaria, describing in detail the conversion of the Gentiles, and they were bringing great joy to all the brothers and sisters.

Therefore, no one is to act as your judge in regard to food and drink, or in respect to a festival or a new moon, or a Sabbath day—

And when they heard about them, they began glorifying God; and they said to him,“ You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed, and they are all zealous for the Law;

For this reason Moses has given you circumcision( not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and even on a Sabbath you circumcise a man.
