那七日将完，从亚细亚来的犹太人看见保罗在圣殿里，就煽动所有的群众，下手拿住他，

散会以后，有许多犹太人和敬虔的皈依犹太教的人跟从了保罗和巴拿巴。二人对他们讲话，劝他们务要恒久倚靠上帝的恩典。

于是亚玛谢对阿摩司说：“你这先见哪，要逃到犹大地，在那里过活，在那里说预言；

我亲爱的弟兄们，请听，上帝岂不是拣选了世上的贫穷人，使他们在信心上富足，并承受他所应许给那些爱他之人的国吗？你们却羞辱贫穷的人。欺压你们，拉你们到公堂去的，不就是这些富有的人吗？

他们又煽动百姓、长老和文士，就突然来捉拿他，把他带到议会去，

那时，有从天下各国来的虔诚的犹太人，住在耶路撒冷。

我为他们作证，他们对上帝有热心，但不是按着真知识。

（只是从来没有像亚哈的，因他受耶洗别王后的唆使，出卖自己，行了耶和华眼中看为恶的事。

你们因耶和华言语而战兢的人哪，当听他的话：“你们的弟兄，就是恨恶你们，因我名赶出你们的，曾说：‘愿耶和华彰显荣耀，好让我们看见你们的喜乐。’但蒙羞的终究是他们！

有人在这城迫害你们，就逃到另一城去。我实在告诉你们，以色列的城镇，你们还没有走遍，人子就要来临。

保罗却说：“我们是罗马人，并没有定罪，他们竟在公众面前打了我们，又把我们下在监里；现在要私下赶我们出去吗？这不行！叫他们自己来领我们出去吧！”差役把这些话回禀官长们；官长们听见他们是罗马人，就害怕了，于是来劝他们，领他们出来，请他们离开那城。

弟兄们哪，想一想你们的蒙召，按着人的观点，有智慧的不多，有能力的不多，有尊贵地位的也不多。但是，上帝拣选了世上愚拙的，为了使有智慧的羞愧；又拣选了世上软弱的，为了使强壮的羞愧。上帝也拣选了世上卑贱的，被人厌恶的，以及那一无所有的，为要废掉那样样都有的，使凡血肉之躯的，在上帝面前，一个也不能自夸。

众人就央求耶稣离开他们的地区。

这些犹太人不但杀了主耶稣和先知们，又把我们赶出去。他们令上帝不悦，且与众人为敌，阻挠我们传道给外邦人，使他们得救，以致常常恶贯满盈，但上帝的愤怒终于临到他们身上。

扫罗也赞同处死他。从那一天开始，耶路撒冷的教会遭受到大迫害，除了使徒以外，众门徒都分散在犹太和撒玛利亚各处。
