夫大維在世、既完成天主之旨、及其既逝、與列祖同塋、則已朽壞；

夫大衛在其世、行上帝之旨、既寢、歸其列祖而朽壞、

蓋大闢生時、遵上帝旨、卒則與祖同朽、

蓋大衛在世時、遵天主旨而盡其職、其後乃逝、逝原文作寢歸於列祖而朽壞、

“ Now when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his ancestors and his body decayed.

This is not a reference to David, for after David had done the will of God in his own generation, he died and was buried with his ancestors, and his body decayed.

For David, after serving his own generation in God’s plan, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and decayed.

For David, after he had served God’s purpose in his own generation, died, was buried with his ancestors, and experienced decay,

諸兄弟乎！容我直言不諱、先祖大維逝且葬矣、其墓至今猶在。

掃羅既廢、大維繼立；天主為之證曰：「耶西子大維者深得吾心、必悉行吾旨。」

死者之復活亦然。所播者必朽、而所發者不朽；所播者辱、而所發者榮；所播者弱、而所發者強；所播者形體、而所發者靈體也。夫既有形體、則亦宜有靈體矣。

生命無價寶。非財所能市。

耶穌曰：『移石！』亡者之妹瑪大曰：『主乎、葬已四日、屍其臭矣！』

蓋天主玄謨、吾已昭示於爾、曾無畏縮。

而彼安寢於基督懷中者、悉已淪亡矣。

本在牧場。羊群是督。主獨舉之。使為民牧。以治義塞。以正雅谷。勵精圖治。盡其忠慤。納民軌物。實憑經略。

後五百兄弟同時見之、此中多數至今尚存、少數已死。

蓋朽者必須化為不朽、而有死者必須化為無死也。一旦有死者能化為無死、則經中所云：『死亡已被吞滅於凱旋中』者、乃見應驗矣，

又跪而呼曰：『主乎！勿將此罪歸於彼眾！』言畢即安然長眠。此固掃羅之所樂睹也。

冥頑何足訓。世人反稱智。

對於已亡之人、勿過於哀傷、一如未具望德者之所為；此吾不欲兄弟之不知也。
