I also will deport you beyond Babylon.’“ Our fathers had the tabernacle of testimony in the wilderness, just as He who spoke to Moses directed him to make it according to the pattern which he had seen.Our fathers in turn received it, and they also brought it in with Joshua upon dispossessing the nations that God drove out from our fathers, until the time of David.David found favor in God’s sight, and asked that he might find a dwelling place for the house of Jacob.But it was Solomon who built a house for Him.However, the Most High does not dwell in houses made by human hands; as the prophet says:‘ Heaven is My throne, And the earth is the footstool of My feet; What kind of house will you build for Me?’ says the Lord,‘ Or what place is there for My rest?Was it not My hand that made all these things?’“ You men who are stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did.Which one of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? They killed those who had previously announced the coming of the Righteous One, and you have now become betrayers and murderers of Him;you who received the Law as ordained by angels, and yet did not keep it.”

I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations as an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you.And I will give to you and to your descendants after you the land where you live as a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.”

But the Lord has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, from Egypt, to be a people of His own possession, as today.

You are the Lord God, Who chose Abram And brought him out from Ur of the Chaldees, And gave him the name Abraham.You found his heart faithful before You, And made a covenant with him To give him the land of the Canaanite, Of the Hittite and the Amorite, Of the Perizzite, the Jebusite, and the Girgashite— To give it to his descendants. And You have fulfilled Your promise, Because You are righteous.“ You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, And heard their cry by the Red Sea.Then You performed signs and wonders against Pharaoh, Against all his servants and all the people of his land; For You knew that they acted arrogantly toward them, And You made a name for Yourself as it is this day.You divided the sea before them, So they passed through the midst of the sea on dry ground; And You hurled their pursuers into the depths, Like a stone into raging waters.And with a pillar of cloud You led them by day, And with a pillar of fire by night To light for them the way In which they were to go.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

You descendants of Abraham, His servant, You sons of Jacob, His chosen ones!He is the Lord our God; His judgments are in all the earth.He has remembered His covenant forever, The word which He commanded to a thousand generations,The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac.Then He confirmed it to Jacob as a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant,Saying,“ To you I will give the land of Canaan As the portion of your inheritance,”When they were only a few people in number, Very few, and strangers in it.

the great trials which your eyes saw and the signs and the wonders, and the mighty hand and the outstretched arm by which the Lord your God brought you out. The Lord your God will do the same to all the peoples of whom you are afraid.

In all their distress He was distressed, And the angel of His presence saved them; In His love and in His mercy He redeemed them, And He lifted them and carried them all the days of old.But they rebelled And grieved His Holy Spirit; Therefore He turned Himself to become their enemy, He fought against them.Then His people remembered the days of old, of Moses. Where is He who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of His flock? Like the horse in the wilderness, they did not stumble;Like the cattle which go down into the valley, The Spirit of the Lord gave them rest. So You led Your people, To make for Yourself a glorious name.

And it shall be when your son asks you in time to come, saying,‘ What is this?’ then you shall say to him,‘ With a powerful hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery.

Your way, God, is holy; What god is great like our God?You are the God who works wonders; You have made known Your strength among the peoples.By Your power You have redeemed Your people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. SelahThe waters saw You, God; The waters saw You, they were in anguish; The ocean depths also trembled.The clouds poured out water; The skies sounded out; Your arrows flashed here and there.The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The lightning lit up the world; The earth trembled and shook.Your way was in the sea And Your paths in the mighty waters, And Your footprints were not known.You led Your people like a flock By the hand of Moses and Aaron.

And it was I who brought you up from the land of Egypt, And led you in the wilderness for forty years So that you might take possession of the land of the Amorite.

Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh; for under compulsion he will let them go, and under compulsion he will drive them out of his land.”God spoke further to Moses and said to him,“ I am the Lord;and I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as God Almighty, but by My name, Lord, I did not make Myself known to them.I also established My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land in which they lived as strangers.Furthermore I have heard the groaning of the sons of Israel, because the Egyptians are holding them in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant.Say, therefore, to the sons of Israel,‘ I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the labors of the Egyptians, and I will rescue you from their bondage. I will also redeem you with an outstretched arm, and with great judgments.Then I will take you as My people, and I will be your God; and you shall know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the labors of the Egyptians.I will bring you to the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you as a possession; I am the Lord.’ ”So Moses said this to the sons of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses on account of their despondency and cruel bondage.Now the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,“ Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the sons of Israel go out of his land.”But Moses spoke before the Lord, saying,“ Behold, the sons of Israel have not listened to me; how then will Pharaoh listen to me, as I am unskilled in speech?”Nevertheless, the Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron and gave them a command concerning the sons of Israel and Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt.These are the heads of their fathers’ households. The sons of Reuben, Israel’s firstborn: Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi; these are the families of Reuben.

But the sons of Israel were fruitful and increased greatly, and multiplied, and became exceedingly mighty, so that the land was filled with them.Now a new king arose over Egypt, who did not know Joseph.And he said to his people,“ Behold, the people of the sons of Israel are too many and too mighty for us.

They did not remember His power, The day when He redeemed them from the enemy,When He performed His signs in Egypt And His marvels in the field of Zoan,And turned their rivers to blood, And their streams, so that they could not drink.He sent swarms of flies among them that devoured them, And frogs that destroyed them.He also gave their crops to the grasshopper And the product of their labor to the locust.He destroyed their vines with hailstones And their sycamore trees with frost.He also turned their cattle over to the hailstones, And their herds to bolts of lightning.He sent His burning anger upon them, Fury and indignation and trouble, A band of destroying angels.He leveled a path for His anger; He did not spare their souls from death, But turned their lives over to the plague,And struck all the firstborn in Egypt, The first and best of their vigor in the tents of Ham.But He led His own people out like sheep, And guided them in the wilderness like a flock;He led them safely, so that they did not fear; But the sea engulfed their enemies.

who has accomplished signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, and even to this day both in Israel and among mankind; and You have made a name for Yourself, as at this day.You brought Your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and with wonders, and with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, and with great terror;

“ As in the days when you went out from the land of Egypt, I will show you miracles.”Nations will see and be ashamed Of all their might. They will put their hand on their mouth, Their ears will be deaf.

It is not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart that you are going in to take possession of their land, but it is because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord your God is driving them out from before you, and in order to confirm the oath which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Now the Lord said to Abram,“ Go from your country, And from your relatives And from your father’s house, To the land which I will show you;And I will make you into a great nation, And I will bless you, And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing;And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

For you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for His personal possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

“ But now listen, Jacob, My servant, And Israel, whom I have chosen:

For He remembered His holy word With His servant Abraham;And He led out His people with joy, His chosen ones with a joyful shout.

Or has a god ventured to go to take for himself a nation from within another nation by trials, by signs and wonders, by war, by a mighty hand, by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, just as the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

So it shall serve as a sign on your hand and as phylacteries on your forehead, for with a powerful hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt.”

“ Have you not observed what these people have asserted, saying,‘ The two families which the Lord chose, He has rejected them’? So they despise My people as no longer being a nation in their sight.This is what the Lord says:‘ If My covenant for day and night does not continue, and I have not established the fixed patterns of heaven and earth,then I would reject the descendants of Jacob and David My servant, so as not to take from his descendants rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But I will restore their fortunes and have mercy on them.’ ”

For the Lord has chosen Jacob for Himself, Israel as His own possession.

He sent His servant Moses, And Aaron, whom He had chosen.They performed His wondrous acts among them, And miracles in the land of Ham.He sent darkness and made it dark; And they did not rebel against His words.He turned their waters into blood, And caused their fish to die.Their land swarmed with frogs Even in the chambers of their kings.He spoke, and a swarm of flies And gnats invaded all their territory.He gave them hail for rain, And flaming fire in their land.He also struck their vines and their fig trees, And smashed the trees of their territory.He spoke, and locusts came, And creeping locusts, beyond number,And they ate all the vegetation in their land, And ate the fruit of their ground.He also fatally struck all the firstborn in their land, The first fruits of all their vigor.Then He brought the Israelites out with silver and gold, And among His tribes there was not one who stumbled.Egypt was glad when they departed, For the dread of them had fallen upon the Egyptians.He spread out a cloud as a covering, And fire to illumine by night.

When Israel went forth from Egypt, The house of Jacob from a people of a foreign language,Judah became His sanctuary; Israel, His dominion.The sea looked and fled; The Jordan turned back.The mountains skipped like rams, The hills, like lambs.What ails you, sea, that you flee? Jordan, that you turn back?Mountains, that you skip like rams? Hills, like lambs?Tremble, earth, before the Lord, Before the God of Jacob,Who turned the rock into a pool of water, The flint into a fountain of water.
