After the usual readings from the books of Moses and the prophets, those in charge of the service sent them this message:“ Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, come and give it.”

旋至納匝勒、其長育地也。禮日、循例入會堂、起誦、或以先知意灑雅書授之、展卷則見紀云：上主之神、臨我之身；恩膏沐首、大命是膺。天主遣我、所為何因：窮苦無告、得聆福音；俘囚獲釋、瞽者復明；困者以解、屈者以伸；

而耶路撒冷居民及其教長不識基督、每禮日所誦先知書訓、亦未領悟；遽定基督之罪、恰應先知之豫言、

司會基立司布舉家信主、格林多人聞之信而受洗者亦眾。

眾於公庭之前、執司會所提尼而毆之；迦流亦漠然置之。

眾遂飽受聖神、各依聖神所賦、而道異國方言。

律法與先知至如望而集其成、自如望而後、天主之國已宣揚於世。惟勉強力行者、始克進焉。

『父老兄弟！聽予向爾分辨！』

諸兄弟乎！容我直言不諱、先祖大維逝且葬矣、其墓至今猶在。

『兄弟乎！聖神假大維之口、預言茹達斯引捕耶穌、此經已見應驗；

惟作先知之言、則所以覺眾；立人達人、勸人慰人、於是乎賴。

眾聞其言、中心如刺；語伯鐸祿及諸徒曰、『兄弟！吾將如之何？』

勸慰者勸慰。布施務廣、治人務勤。矜貧恤寡、難得滿腔和氣；

辯論既久、伯鐸祿乃起立而言曰：『兄弟乎！爾等固知天主夙選予於爾中、假予之口、使異邦人諦聽福音、因以起信。

遍歷其境、多所勸勗；至希臘、

司諦文曰：『父老兄弟、請聽吾言！當吾祖亞伯漢尚在美索不達米亞、未居於哈蘭以前、榮耀之天主顯而語之曰：
