And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy,[ let us prophesy] according to the proportion of faith;Or ministry,[ let us wait] on[ our] ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;

Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.[ Are] all apostles?[ are] all prophets?[ are] all teachers?[ are] all workers of miracles?

And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed[ them].

And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.

The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee.And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third[ day] I shall be perfected.

Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or[ one] unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on[ his] face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long[ season], because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked[ him], and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.

And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?

And when Paul had laid[ his] hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.And devout men carried Stephen[ to his burial], and made great lamentation over him.As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed[ them] to prison.

But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip’s wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done,Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.

All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Caesar’s household.

At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put[ him] in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife.For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.But when Herod’s birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask.And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist’s head in a charger.And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath’s sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded[ it] to be given[ her].And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.

Timotheus my workfellow, and Lucius, and Jason, and Sosipater, my kinsmen, salute you.

Then Saul,( who also[ is called] Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,

And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.

Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.

And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we[ should go] unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,

And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled[ their] ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.
