應當一無掛慮，只要凡事藉着禱告和祈求、用感謝心將你們所求的稟知在上帝面前，上帝所賜出人意外的平安、就必保守你們的心懷意念、在基督耶穌裏。

所以我們可以放膽說：『主是援助我的，我必不懼怕；人能把我怎麼樣呢？』

他心意鎮定；你守護他平平安安，因為他倚靠你。你們要倚靠永恆主到永永遠遠；因為萬世的磐石乃在於永恆主。

亞伯拉罕給那地方起名叫『永恆主以勒』；今日人還說：『在永恆主山上、必有所顧到的。』

由於怕他的緣故，看守的人都發抖震顫，像死人一般。

我躺下，我睡覺，我醒來，都因永恆主在扶持着我。雖有千萬族民周圍排列攻擊我，我也不怕。

（為了這個、我做帶鎖鍊的大使），使我在這上頭放膽無懼、照所應該講的來講。

掃羅在山這邊走，大衛和跟從的人卻在山那邊走；大衛慌慌張張地要躲避掃羅；因為掃羅和跟隨掃羅的人四面包圍大衛和跟從大衛的人，要把他們拿住。忽有使者來見掃羅說：『非利士人正在侵犯我們的國土呢；趕快回去吧！』

為了這個緣故、我才請諸位來見面談談。我原是為了以色列的指望才掛着這鎖鍊的。』

我必又平安、又躺下而睡覺，因為只有永恆主、你能使我安然居住。

『我們看見監獄關得極妥當，守衛兵在各門外站着；趕到開了門，裏面卻一個人也沒見着。』

現在你看，我今日解開了你手上的鍊子。你若看跟我往巴比倫去好，就去；我可以好好地照應你；你若看跟我往巴比倫去不好，就不必去。看哪，全地都在你面前；你看哪裏好、哪裏合宜去，就上哪裏去吧！

『若不是我怕仇敵惹我發怒，我原想着說：「我必將他們割裂成塊，使他們的名號都滅絕於人間」；恐怕敵人判斷錯了，恐怕他們說：「是我們的手高舉起來作的，並不是永恆主行了這一切事啊。」
