后来，守望者（按照《马索拉文本》，“守望者”作“狮子”；现参照《死海古卷》和《叙利亚文古译本》翻译）喊叫着说：“主啊！我每日不断站在守望楼上，每夜立在我守望的岗位中。

礼拜日黄昏的时候，门徒聚在一起，因为怕犹太人，就把门户都关上。耶稣来了，站在他们中间，说：“愿你们平安。”

于是，约瑟把他们收在监房里三天。

他们把他收在监里，因为要怎样办他，还未明朗。

“我耶和华所膏立的古列，我紧握着他的右手，使列国降服在他面前；我也松开列王的腰带；我使门户在他面前敞开，使城门不得关闭；耶和华对古列这样说：我必亲自领导你，把高低不平的路修平；铜门，我必打破；铁门，我必砍断。

“你要写信给在非拉铁非教会的使者，说：‘那圣洁的、真实的，拿着大卫的钥匙，开了就没有人能关，关了就没有人能开的（“拿着大卫的钥匙……没有人能开的”引自赛22:22），这样说：

捉到了，就把他关在监里，交给四班士兵看守，每班四个人，打算过了逾越节，把他提出来交给民众。

过了八天，门徒又在屋子里，多马也和他们在一起。门户都关上了。耶稣来了，站在他们中间，说：“愿你们平安。”
