哥尼流說：『前四天這一點鐘，我在家裏正守着下午三點的禱告，忽然有一個人穿着明亮的衣服，站在我面前，說：『哥尼流，在上帝面前、你的禱告已蒙垂聽，你的施捨已蒙記住了。所以你要打發人往約帕去，把那稱為彼得的西門請來；這個人住在海邊一個硝皮匠西門家裏作客。』

他們說：『百夫長哥尼流、一個正義而敬畏上帝的人、受猶太全民族所稱讚的、曾經得了一位聖天使傳的神諭，叫他打發人邀請你到他家去，要聽你的話語。』

大約白天三點，他在異象中顯然看見上帝的一個天使進來找他，對他說：『哥尼流。』哥尼流定睛看他，很覺得懼怕，就說：『是甚麼事呢，主啊？』天使對他說：『你的禱告你的施捨已經上升，在上帝面前蒙記住了。如今你要打發人往約帕去，邀請一個稱為彼得的西門來。這個人住在一個硝皮匠西門家裏作客，他的房子就在海邊上。』

彼得心裏明白過來，說：『如今我真地知道主差遣他的天使出來，救拔我脫離希律的手和猶太民眾所期待的一切事。』

彼得在約帕一個硝皮匠西門家裏住了好些日子。

眾天使豈不是服事的靈，奉差遣為那將要承受拯救的人作服役的工麼？
