Now in the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice,“ Ha! Leave us alone, Jesus the Nazarene! Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are– the Holy One of God.”But Jesus rebuked him:“ Silence! Come out of him!” Then, after the demon threw the man down in their midst, he came out of him without hurting him.They were all amazed and began to say to one another,“ What’s happening here? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”

He replied,“ Let us go elsewhere, into the surrounding villages, so that I can preach there too. For that is what I came out here to do.”So he went into all of Galilee preaching in their synagogues and casting out demons.

As the boy was approaching, the demon threw him to the ground and shook him with convulsions. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.

Jesus went throughout all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of disease and sickness among the people.So a report about him spread throughout Syria. People brought to him all who suffered with various illnesses and afflictions, those who had seizures, paralytics, and those possessed by demons, and he healed them.And large crowds followed him from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan River.

And he was amazed because of their unbelief. Then he went around among the villages and taught.

At that very time Jesus cured many people of diseases, sicknesses, and evil spirits, and granted sight to many who were blind.So he answered them,“ Go tell John what you have seen and heard: The blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have good news proclaimed to them.Blessed is anyone who takes no offense at me.”

Then Jesus went throughout all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and sickness.

Be sober and alert. Your enemy the devil, like a roaring lion, is on the prowl looking for someone to devour.

Now when Jesus learned of this, he went away from there. Great crowds followed him, and he healed them all.

They taught throughout Judah, taking with them the scroll of the law of the LORD. They traveled to all the cities of Judah and taught the people.

As they got out of the boat, people immediately recognized Jesus.They ran through that whole region and began to bring the sick on mats to wherever he was rumored to be.And wherever he would go– into villages, towns, or countryside– they would place the sick in the marketplaces, and would ask him if they could just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.

Then he said to her,“ Because you said this, you may go. The demon has left your daughter.”She went home and found the child lying on the bed, and the demon gone.

Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, he likewise shared in their humanity, so that through death he could destroy the one who holds the power of death( that is, the devil),and set free those who were held in slavery all their lives by their fear of death.

Then Jesus went away with his disciples to the sea, and a great multitude from Galilee followed him. And from Judea,Jerusalem, Idumea, beyond the Jordan River, and around Tyre and Sidon a great multitude came to him when they heard about the things he had done.Because of the crowd, he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him so the crowd would not press toward him.For he had healed many, so that all who were afflicted with diseases pressed toward him in order to touch him.And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out,“ You are the Son of God.”

After going out from there, Jesus went to the region of Tyre and Sidon.A Canaanite woman from that area came and cried out,“ Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is horribly demon- possessed!”But he did not answer her a word. Then his disciples came and begged him,“ Send her away, because she keeps on crying out after us.”So he answered,“ I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”But she came and bowed down before him and said,“ Lord, help me!”“ It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs,” he said.“ Yes, Lord,” she replied,“ but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”Then Jesus answered her,“ Woman, your faith is great! Let what you want be done for you.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.When he left there, Jesus went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up a mountain, where he sat down.Then large crowds came to him bringing with them the lame, blind, crippled, mute, and many others. They laid them at his feet, and he healed them.As a result, the crowd was amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled healthy, the lame walking, and the blind seeing, and they praised the God of Israel.

“ I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy hill.”

Jesus gave them permission. So the unclean spirits came out and went into the pigs. Then the herd rushed down the steep slope into the lake, and about two thousand were drowned in the lake.Now the herdsmen ran off and spread the news in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened.They came to Jesus and saw the demon- possessed man sitting there, clothed and in his right mind– the one who had the“ Legion”– and they were afraid.

So when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the slave well.Soon afterward Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went with him.As he approached the town gate, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother( who was a widow), and a large crowd from the town was with her.When the Lord saw her, he had compassion for her and said to her,“ Do not weep.”Then he came up and touched the bier, and those who carried it stood still. He said,“ Young man, I say to you, get up!”So the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.Fear seized them all, and they began to glorify God, saying,“ A great prophet has appeared among us!” and“ God has come to help his people!”This report about Jesus circulated throughout Judea and all the surrounding country.
