他先找到自己的哥哥西门，对他说：“我们遇见弥赛亚了。”（“弥赛亚”翻出来就是基督。）于是安得烈领西门去见耶稣。耶稣看着他，说：“你是约翰的儿子西门，你要称为矶法。”（“矶法”翻出来就是彼得。）又过了一天，耶稣想要往加利利去。他找到腓力，就对他说：“来跟从我！”这腓力是伯赛大人，是安得烈和彼得的同乡。腓力找到拿但业，对他说：“摩西在律法书上所写的，和众先知所记的那一位，我们遇见了，就是约瑟的儿子拿撒勒人耶稣。”拿但业对他说：“拿撒勒还能出什么好的吗？”腓力说：“你来看。”耶稣看见拿但业向他走来，就论到他说：“看哪，这真是个以色列人！他心里是没有诡诈的。”拿但业对耶稣说：“你从哪里认识我的？”耶稣回答他说：“腓力还没有呼唤你，你在无花果树底下，我就看见你了。”拿但业回答他：“拉比！你是上帝的儿子，你是以色列的王。”

在那日，你们各人要请邻舍坐在葡萄树和无花果树下。这是万军之耶和华说的。”

“万军之耶和华如此说：将来还有众百姓和许多城镇的居民要来。这城的居民必到那城，说：‘我们快去恳求耶和华的恩，寻求万军之耶和华；我自己也要去。’必有许多民族和强盛的国家来到耶路撒冷寻求万军之耶和华，恳求耶和华的恩。万军之耶和华如此说：在那些日子，列国中说各种语言的人，必有十个人强拉住一个犹大人衣服的边，说：‘我们要与你们同去，因为我们听见上帝与你们同在了。’”

那妇人留下水罐，往城里去，对众人说：“你们来看！有一个人把我素来所做的一切事都说了出来，难道这个人就是基督吗？”

后来有人在亚锁都遇见腓利；他走遍那地方，在各城宣扬福音，一直到凯撒利亚。
