耶穌從那裏往前走，看見一個人名叫馬太、在稅關上坐着，就對他說：『你跟從我』；他就起來跟從耶穌。耶穌在屋裏坐席，有許多收稅人和「罪人」來了，跟耶穌和他門徒一同坐席。

耶穌不許他，卻對他說：『往你家去，到你親屬那裏，將主為你所作多麼大的事、並怎樣地憐恤你、都傳報他們。』那人起身去，就在十邑區宣傳耶穌為他作了多麼大的事；眾人都希奇。

利未在自己家裏為耶穌辦了盛大的迎賓席；當時有一大羣的收稅人、和跟他們一同坐席的其他人們。

這個人首先找着自己的哥哥西門，對他說：『我們遇見了彌賽亞了』，（「彌賽亞」翻譯出來就是上帝所膏立者「基督」）。就帶他到耶穌跟前。耶穌定睛看着他、就說：『你是約翰的兒子西門；你要稱為磯法』；「磯法」翻出來就是「彼得」、即係石頭。第二天，耶穌想要出行往加利利去。他遇見了腓力，就對他說：『你跟從我。』腓力是伯賽大人，是安得烈和彼得那城的人。腓力找着了拿但業，就對他說：『摩西在《律法書》上所寫的、和神言人們所記的那一位、我們已經遇見了，就是約瑟的兒子、拿撒勒人耶穌。』拿但業對腓力說：『拿撒勒還能出甚麼好的麼？』腓力對他說：『你來看！』耶穌見拿但業向自己那裏走來，就論到他說：『看哪，真是個以色列人，他裏面沒有詭詐的！』拿但業對耶穌說：『你從哪裏認識我呢？』耶穌回答他說：『腓力沒有呼叫你以前，你在無花果樹底下、我就看見你了。』拿但業回答他說：『老師，你是上帝的兒子，你是以色列的王！』

當那日、你們各人都要招待鄰舍來坐在葡萄樹下、或無花果樹下：這是萬軍之永恆主發神諭說的。』

『萬軍之永恆主這麼說：將來必有萬族之民和多城的居民還要來到；這一城的居民必去見另一城的居民說：「我們總要趕快去求永恆主的情面，去尋求萬軍之永恆主哦！讓我去吧！也讓我吧！」必有許多外族之民和強盛之國要前來，在耶路撒冷尋求萬軍之永恆主，求永恆主的情面。萬軍之永恆主這麼說：當那些日子列國說各樣語言的人之中十個人必拉住一個猶大人的衣邊、說：「讓我們和你們一同去吧！因為我們聽說上帝與你們同在。」』

必有許多外族之民要前來，說：『來，咱們來上永恆主的山，來登雅各之上帝的殿；好讓他將他的道路指教我們，使我們行他的路徑；因為教訓必出於錫安，永恆主的話必出於耶路撒冷。』

起初有道，道與上帝同在，道是上帝之真體。這道起初與上帝同在；萬物藉着他而被造；凡被造的、沒有一物在他以外而被造。

於是那婦人撇下了水瓶，往城裏去，對人說；『來看一個人，他將我所行過的一切事都給我說出來了；莫非這就是基督？』

腓利呢、卻在亞鎖都有人看見。他走遍所有的城市傳福音，直到該撒利亞。
