安得烈先遇其弟西門、而告之曰：『吾儕已遇美使。』美使之為言、基督也。遂引西門謁耶穌、耶穌注目視之曰：『汝非若納之子西門乎？此後當稱爾為基法。』「基法」者伯鐸祿也。又次日、耶穌赴加利利、適遇斐理伯、諭之曰：『從予！』斐理伯者、百賽達人、安得烈伯鐸祿之同鄉也。斐理伯遇納大那、告之曰：『摩西書及諸先知所預言者、我儕今已遇之、即若瑟之子、納匝勒人耶穌是已。』納大那曰：『納匝勒焉有良產？』斐理伯曰：『盍來一觀。』耶穌見納大那來訪、指之曰：『此誠義塞人、心無詭譎者！』納大那曰：『汝何由知我？』耶穌曰：『斐理伯未招汝、汝憩於鳳果樹下時、予已見汝、』納大那曰：『辣卞誠天主之子、義塞之君也。』

太初有道。與天主偕。道即天主。自始與偕。微道無物。物因道生。天地萬有。資道以成。

『有人備道吾平生事、得非基督乎？盍來一觀其人！』眾皆紛紛出城、而趨謁之。

其時人見斐理伯於亞鎮都、遍歷城邑、傳揚福音、以迄凱塞里。
