然而，我把實情告訴你們，我去對你們是有益的，因為如果我不去，護慰者就不會來，我去了就會派祂到你們這裡來。祂來了，就要在罪、義、審判方面責備世人。在罪方面責備他們，是因為他們不信我；在義方面責備他們，是因為我要去父那裡，你們再也看不到我了；在審判方面責備他們，是因為這世界的王受了審判。「我還有許多事情要告訴你們，可是你們現在不能明白。等到真理之靈來了，祂會引導你們，讓你們明白一切的真理。祂不憑自己說話，而是把祂所聽見的和有關將來的事告訴你們。祂也要把從我那裡領受的指示你們，使我得榮耀。因為父的一切都是我的，所以我才說祂要把從我那裡領受的指示你們。

但護慰者，就是父為我的名而差來的聖靈，將教導你們一切的事，並使你們想起我對你們說的一切話。我把平安留給你們，把我的平安賜給你們，我賜給你們的平安不像世人給的平安。你們心裡不要憂愁，也不要害怕。「我對你們說過，我去了還要再回到你們這裡。如果你們真的愛我，就應當為我去父那裡而歡喜快樂，因為父比我大。

因為到時候聖靈必指示你們當說的話。」

然後祂向他們吹了一口氣，說：「你們領受聖靈吧！

因為那時候說話的不是你們自己，乃是你們父的靈藉著你們說話。

你們雖然邪惡，尚且知道把好東西給兒女，天父豈不更要賜聖靈給那些求祂的人嗎？」

不是向所有的人顯現，而是向被上帝預先揀選為祂做見證的人顯現，就是我們這些在祂復活以後與祂一同吃喝過的人。

門徒又驚又喜，半信半疑。耶穌問：「你們這裡有吃的嗎？」他們便給祂一片烤魚，祂接過魚來在他們面前吃了。
