約書亞就在示羅永恆主面前給他們抓鬮；約書亞在那裏照分配辦法將地分給以色列人。

然後為那兩隻山羊拈鬮，拈一隻歸永恆主，一隻歸阿撒瀉勒。

有明智的、明智就是他生命之泉源；愚妄人受的懲罰乃是愚妄。

他們憑拈鬮把他們分配起來，彼此同樣；因為以利亞撒的子孫中和以他瑪的子孫中都有人在聖所做首領、或是在上帝面前做首領的。

但是彼得同那十一個人卻站着，提高了聲音，向他們發表言論說：『猶太人、和所有住耶路撒冷的人哪，這件事你們要知道，要側耳聽我的話。

大家就彼此說：『來，我們來拈鬮，看這災禍臨到我們、是因誰的緣故。』於是他們就拈鬮，便拈出約拿來。

掃羅說：『永恆主以色列的上帝啊，你今天為甚麼不回答你僕人呢？這罪孽如果是在我或我兒子約拿單，永恆主以色列的上帝啊，求你給「烏陵」吧；但這罪孽如果是在你人民以色列，那麼、永恆主以色列的上帝啊，求你給「土明」吧。』於是約拿單和掃羅被拈着；人民就出脫無事了。掃羅說：『在我和我兒子約拿單之間、你們再給拈下來吧』；約拿單就被拈着了。

既覆滅了迦南地七族的人，就把七族人的地分為基業、約有四百五十年。
