For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

予之造次顛沛、備嘗艱辛、亦為此福音而已。然予不以為恥也。無他、予知所仰望者之為誰氏之子、且深信彼之所寄於予者、彼必能保其完整、以待彼日之臨也。

That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.

That’s why I’m suffering the way I am. But this gives me no reason to be ashamed. That’s because I know who I have believed in. I am sure he is able to take care of what I have given him. I can trust him with it until the day he returns as judge.

which is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that Day what has been entrusted to me.

That is why I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return.

Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane[ and] vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls[ to him] in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

The LORD[ is] good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present[ you] faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

But of that day and hour knoweth no[ man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Behold, God[ is] my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH[ is] my strength and[ my] song; he also is become my salvation.

Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.

Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.

Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer,[ even] unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any[ man] pluck them out of my hand.My Father, which gave[ them] me, is greater than all; and no[ man] is able to pluck[ them] out of my Father’s hand.I and[ my] Father are one.

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

At my first answer no man stood with me, but all[ men] forsook me:[ I pray God] that it may not be laid to their charge.Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and[ that] all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.

Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.

Yea doubtless, and I count all things[ but] loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them[ but] dung, that I may win Christ,

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of[ our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.In whom ye also[ trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles.And they gave him audience unto this word, and[ then] lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a[ fellow] from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.And as they cried out, and cast off[ their] clothes, and threw dust into the air,The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know wherefore they cried so against him.

And patience, experience; and experience, hope:And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all[ men] every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.( For they had seen before with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.

But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.

And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use[ them] despitefully, and to stone them,They were ware of[ it], and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth round about:

Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

When I cry[ unto thee], then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God[ is] for me.

Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.

Yet if[ any man suffer] as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery;( as I wrote afore in few words,Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we[ are].While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of[ them] all the Lord delivered me.Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

And they stoned Stephen, calling upon[ God], and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.

According to my earnest expectation and[ my] hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but[ that] with all boldness, as always,[ so] now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether[ it be] by life, or by death.
