你們要立定心志安靜下來、做自己的事、親手做工，正如我們曾經吩咐過你們的，

偷竊的，不可再偷，反而要勞苦做工，親手做有益處的事，好使自己能有所得，分給有需要的人。

並且親手勞苦做工。被人辱罵，我們就祝福；被人逼迫，我們就容忍；

我在你們那裡有缺乏的時候，也沒有成為任何人的負擔，因為從馬其頓省來的弟兄們補足了我的缺乏。在一切事上我都留意，不讓自己成為你們的負擔，將來也會留意。

你們自己也知道，我這雙手供應了我和與我在一起之人的需要。

她照看家中事務，從不吃閒飯。

我們在主耶穌基督裡吩咐並勸勉這樣的人：要安靜做工，吃自己的飯。
