Then David asked,“ Is anyone still left from the family of Saul, so that I may extend kindness to him for the sake of Jonathan?”

大衛問說：「掃羅家還有剩下的人沒有？我要因約拿單的緣故向他施恩。」

大衛說：「掃羅家還有剩下的人沒有？我要因約拿單的緣故向他施恩。」

大衛說：「掃羅家還有剩下的人沒有？我要因約拿單的緣故向他施恩。」

大衛問：「掃羅一家還有什麼人嗎？我要因為和約拿單的情義而恩待他。」

大衛問說：『掃羅家還有剩下的人沒有？我要因約拿單的緣故向他表示厚愛。』

大衛問：「掃羅家還有誰剩下嗎？我要因約拿單的緣故，以恩慈對待他。」

大衛曰、掃羅家尚有遺存者乎、我緣約拿單故、將施仁慈於彼、

大闢曰、掃羅裔尚有遺乎、緣約拿單故、我欲施恩於彼。

大衛問曰、掃羅家尚有遺存者乎、我欲緣約拿單故、施恩於彼、

David asked,“ Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

David asked,“ Is anyone left from the royal house of Saul? If there is, I want to be kind to him because of Jonathan.”

And David said,“ Is there still anyone left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

One day David asked,“ Is anyone in Saul’s family still alive— anyone to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

David asked,“ Is there anyone remaining from the family of Saul I can show kindness to for Jonathan’s sake?”

Then David said,“ Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul, so that I could show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

Now David said,“ Is there still anyone who is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?

David asked,“ Is there anyone remaining from Saul’s family I can show kindness to because of Jonathan?”

And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?

David said,“ Is there yet any who is left of Saul’s house, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

Jonathan said to David,“ Go in peace, for the two of us have sworn together in the name of the Lord saying,‘ The Lord will be between me and you and between my descendants and your descendants forever.’”( 21: 1) Then David got up and left, while Jonathan went back to the city.

And the king will answer them,‘ I tell you the truth, just as you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of mine, you did it for me.’

While I am still alive, extend to me the loyalty of the LORD, or else I will die!Don’t ever cut off your loyalty to my family, not even when the LORD has cut off every one of David’s enemies from the face of the earthand called David’s enemies to account.” So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David.Jonathan once again took an oath with David, because he loved him. In fact Jonathan loved him as much as he did his own life.

For I tell you the truth, whoever gives you a cup of water because you bear Christ’s name will never lose his reward.

So when Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother,“ Woman, look, here is your son!”He then said to his disciple,“ Look, here is your mother!” From that very time the disciple took her into his own home.

Then Jonathan son of Saul left and went to David at Horesh. He encouraged him through God.He said to him,“ Don’t be afraid! For the hand of my father Saul cannot find you. You will rule over Israel, and I will be your second in command. Even my father Saul realizes this.”When the two of them had made a covenant before the LORD, David stayed on at Horesh, but Jonathan went to his house.

I would rather appeal to you on the basis of love– I, Paul, an old man and even now a prisoner for the sake of Christ Jesus–I am appealing to you concerning my child, whose spiritual father I have become during my imprisonment, that is, Onesimus,who was formerly useless to you, but is now useful to you and me.I have sent him( who is my very heart) back to you.

I grieve over you, my brother Jonathan! You were very dear to me. Your love was more special to me than the love of women.

“ Treat fairly the sons of Barzillai of Gilead and provide for their needs, because they helped me when I had to flee from your brother Absalom.

And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple, I tell you the truth, he will never lose his reward.”

Finally, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, affectionate, compassionate, and humble.

Do not forsake your friend and your father’s friend, and do not enter your brother’s house in the day of your disaster; a neighbor nearby is better than a brother far away.

When David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan and David became bound together in close friendship. Jonathan loved David as much as he did his own life.Saul retained David on that day and did not allow him to return to his father’s house.Jonathan made a covenant with David, for he loved him as much as he did his own life.Jonathan took off the robe he was wearing and gave it to David, along with the rest of his gear, including his sword, his bow, and even his belt.
