大衛漸漸強大，因為耶和華萬軍的神與他同在。

大衛所行的一切都亨通，因為耶和華與他同在。

我追趕仇敵，把他們追上；不消滅他們，我必不歸回。我重創他們，使他們不能起來；他們都倒在我的腳下。你以能力給我束腰，使我能夠作戰；你又使那些起來攻擊我的人都屈服在我的腳下。你使我的仇敵在我面前轉背逃跑，使我可以殲滅恨我的人。他們呼叫，卻沒有人拯救；就算向耶和華呼求，他也不答應他們。我搗碎他們，像風前的塵土，我傾倒他們，像街上的爛泥。

他從灰塵中抬舉貧寒人，從糞堆中提拔窮乏人，使他們和權貴同坐，就是和他子民中的權貴同坐，

他又在以東設立防軍；他在以東各地都設立防軍，所有以東人就都臣服大衛。大衛無論到甚麼地方去，耶和華都使他得勝。

於是大衛在大馬士革的亞蘭地駐軍。這樣亞蘭人就臣服大衛，給他進貢。大衛無論到甚麼地方去，耶和華都使他得勝。

這樣，掃羅和他的三個兒子，以及替他拿兵器的人，還有所有跟隨他的人，都在那一天一同死了。

他使有權能的失位，叫卑微的升高，

他從灰塵中抬舉貧寒的人，從糞堆中提拔窮乏的人，使他們與顯貴同坐，承受尊貴的座位。大地的柱子屬於耶和華，他把全地安放在柱子上面。

他使我的腳像母鹿的蹄，又使我站穩在高處。他教導我的手怎樣作戰，又使我的手臂可以拉開銅弓。你把你救恩的盾牌賜給我；你的回答使我昌大。你使我腳底下的路徑寬闊，我的兩膝不會動搖。我追趕仇敵，把他們追上，不消滅他們，我必不歸回。

藉著你，我攻破敵軍；靠著我的神，我跳過牆垣。

神的城啊！有很多榮耀的事，都是指著你說的。（細拉）“在認識我的人中，我提到拉哈伯和巴比倫，看哪！還有非利士、推羅和古實，我說：‘這一個是生在那裡的。’”論到錫安，必有話說：“這一個、那一個都是生在錫安的。”至高者必親自堅立這城。耶和華登記萬民的時候，必記著：“這一個是生在那裡的。”（細拉）

在耶和華拯救大衛脫離所有仇敵和掃羅的手的日子，他向耶和華唱出這首歌的歌詞。

我要在他的面前擊碎他的敵人，擊殺那些恨他的人。

我必使你成為大國，賜福給你，使你的名為大，你也必使別人得福，
