I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt to this day. I have been moving from place to place with a tent as my dwelling.

以色列全體會眾聚集在示羅，把會幕豎立在那裡，因為那地在他們面前被征服了。

摩西豎立起帳幕，安上柱座，放上木板，安上橫閂，豎立柱子。把罩棚鋪在帳幕上面，又把罩棚的上蓋放在上面；都是照著耶和華吩咐摩西的。

“如果你們經過這事，還是不聽從我，行事仍與我的心意相違，我就必發烈怒，與你們作對；我要按著你們的罪，再加重七倍管教你們。

耶和華說：“我必親自與你同去，也必給你安息。”摩西對他說：“你若是不親自與我們同去，就不要把我們從這裡領上去。

“但如果你們經過這些事仍然不歸向我，行事仍與我的心意相違，我也要與你們作對，按著你們的罪，再加重七倍擊打你們；

“你要寫信給在以弗所教會的使者，說：‘那右手拿著七星，在七個金燈臺中間行走的，這樣說：

因為耶和華你的神常在你的營中行走，要拯救你，要把你的仇敵交在你的面前；所以你的營要聖潔，免得他看見你那裡有污穢的東西，就離開你。

因為自從我領以色列人上來那天起，直到今日，我都未曾住過殿宇，只是從這帳幕到那帳幕，從這帳棚到那帳棚。我和以色列眾人，無論走到甚麼地方，從沒有向以色列的哪一個士師，就是我所吩咐牧養我的子民的，說：你們為甚麼不給我建造香柏木的殿宇呢？’

當時，有雲彩遮蓋會幕，耶和華的榮耀充滿了帳幕。摩西不能進入會幕，因為雲彩停在會幕上面，並且耶和華的榮耀充滿著帳幕。在以色列人所有的旅程中是這樣的：每逢雲彩從帳幕收上去的時候，他們就起程；雲彩若是不收上去，他們就不起程，直到雲彩收上去的日子為止。因為以色列人所有的旅程中，日間有耶和華的雲彩在帳幕上，夜間雲中有火，顯在以色列全家的眼前。

“我們的祖先在曠野有作證的帳幕，就是跟摩西談話的那位指示他，依照他看見的樣式做的。

神的殿和偶像怎能協調呢？我們就是永生神的殿，正如神說：“我要住在他們中間，在他們中間來往；我要作他們的神，他們要作我的子民。”

以色列人從耶和華的山起行，行了三天的路程，耶和華的約櫃在他們前面行了三天的路程，為他們尋找安息的地方。他們拔營起行的時候，日間總有耶和華的雲彩在他們上頭。約櫃起行的時候，摩西就說：“耶和華啊，求你起來，願你的仇敵四散；願恨你的人從你面前逃跑。”約櫃停住的時候，他就說：“耶和華啊，求你歸來，回到以色列的千萬人中。”
