迨爾年壽已滿、與爾列祖同寢、我必使爾所出之苗裔、所出之苗裔或作所生之子繼爾位、我亦必鞏固其國、

When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom.

Some day your life will come to an end. You will join the members of your family who have already died. Then I will make one of your own sons the next king after you. And I will make his kingdom secure.

When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.

For when you die and are buried with your ancestors, I will raise up one of your descendants, your own offspring, and I will make his kingdom strong.

耶和華以信實向大衛起了誓，必不收回，他說：「我將從你親生的後裔中，立一位坐在你的寶座上。如果你的子孫遵守我的約，以及我所教導他們的法度，他們的子孫也必坐在你的寶座上，直到永遠。」

既然大衛是先知，也知道神曾向他起誓說，要從他的後裔中興起一位坐在他的寶座上，

就是說，大衛雖然在自己的世代，遵行了神的計劃之後就睡了，歸到他祖先那裡，並且經歷了腐朽，

他的政權與平安必加增無窮；他必在大衛的寶座上統管他的國，以公正和公義使國堅立穩固，從今直到永遠。萬軍之耶和華的熱心必成就這事。

到那日，耶西的根必立起，作萬民的旗幟；列國必尋求他，他安息之所必大有榮耀。

我要堅立他的後裔，直到永遠；使他的寶座如天之久。

睡在塵土中的眾人必醒來：有的得永遠的生命，有的蒙受羞辱，永遠被憎惡。

說：「關於基督，你們怎麼看？他是誰的後裔呢？」他們說：「是大衛的後裔。」耶穌問他們：「那麼，大衛藉著聖靈，怎麼還稱他為『主』呢？大衛說：『主對我主說：你坐在我的右邊，等我把你的敵人放在你的腳下。』

耶和華的話語又臨到他，說：「這人不會是你的繼承人，只有你親生的，才會是你的繼承人。」

從耶西的樹墩必發出一個嫩芽，從他的根而出的枝子必結果實。耶和華的靈必停留在那一位身上，就是智慧和悟性的靈，謀略和大能的靈，知識和敬畏耶和華的靈。他以敬畏耶和華為樂，審斷不憑眼見，裁決不憑耳聞。

看哪，我告訴你們一個奧祕：我們並不是都要睡了，而是都要被改變，

我們既然相信耶穌死而復活了，照樣也相信，那些藉著耶穌已經睡了的人，神將要把他們與耶穌一同帶來。
