When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom.

Some day your life will come to an end. You will join the members of your family who have already died. Then I will make one of your own sons the next king after you. And I will make his kingdom secure.

When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.

“耶和华已经实现祂的应许，祂让我继承我父大卫的王位统治以色列。现在，我为以色列的上帝耶和华的名建了殿，

大卫临终时，叮嘱他儿子所罗门说：

耶和华曾向大卫起了永不废弃的誓说：“我必使你的后代继承你的王位。你的后代若守我的约，遵行我教导他们的法度，他们的子孙必永远坐在你的宝座上。”

耶和华对摩西说：“你快要与祖先同眠了。这些百姓将很快在要占领的土地上与外族人的神明苟合，背弃我，违背我与他们所立的约。

大卫是先知，知道上帝曾起誓要从他的后裔中选立一人继承他的王位。

你离世归到祖先那里的时候，我必使你的一位后裔继承你的王位，使他的国坚立。

“大卫在世时遵行上帝的旨意，最后死了，葬在他祖先那里，肉身也朽坏了。

祂的国必长治久安。祂必坐在大卫的宝座上以公平和公义治国，使国家永固。万军之耶和华必热切地成就此事。

不然，到我主我王与祖先同眠之后，我和我儿所罗门必被定为罪人。”

到那日，耶西的根必成为引导万民的旗帜，外族人都来寻求他，他的住处充满荣耀。

我要使他的后裔永无穷尽，让他的王位与天同存。

许多长眠地下的人必醒过来，有些得到永生，有些蒙受羞辱，永远被憎恶。

“你们对基督有何看法？祂是谁的后裔？”他们答道：“大卫的后裔。”耶稣说：“那么，为什么大卫受圣灵感动，称祂为主呢？大卫曾说，“‘主对我主说，你坐在我的右边，等我使你的仇敌伏在你脚下。’

耶和华又对他说：“这人不会成为你的继承人，你亲生的儿子才是你的继承人。”

就像树墩上长出新的枝条，大卫的后裔中必有一人做王。耶和华的灵必住在他身上，使他有聪明和智慧、谋略和能力，能认识并敬畏耶和华。他必以敬畏耶和华为乐。他不凭眼见施行审判，不凭耳闻断定是非，

听着，我要告诉你们一个奥秘：我们并不是都要死亡，乃是都要改变——

我们既然相信耶稣死了，又复活了，也要相信上帝必把那些安息的信徒和耶稣一同带来。
